About the adventure

A part of THE DISTRICT World of Darkness Saga THE DISTRICT Malleus Maleficarum is a Mage: The Ascension 20th Anniversary Edition Chronicle where the players will take the roles of Mages attempting to restrengthen an area once thought devoid of arcane wonder and magic. The DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia) Area was once bountiful in magick, arcane thought, and ritual spellcasting. But, as The District expanded and more and more government agencies formed, the magic soon left the land. It was sapped and tapped from the Powers in Charge with very, very little left. As the Technocracy regulates and tightens its grip on magic users in D.C., a group of misfits band together to slowly, but surely resurrect what was once dead one step at a time. This is a Chronicle for those who want to weave spells beyond your imagination and use critical thinking and teamwork to solve puzzles and perform rituals to bring life to a dead land.

About me

I am a queer, nonbinary writer, designer, streamer whose been working in the industry for five slutty, slutty years. I am the founder and creative director of Carrion Comfort, which produces creative, kind, and ultimately weird Tabletop games, content, and streams that punch up, not down. My passion for labor rights, indie developers, LGBTQ+ issues, and my Appalachian roots shine throughout the stories I wants to see in the industry and beyond. Outside of streaming and TTRPGs, I love wrestling, logic puzzles, mythology, culinary art, and my pets, Jigsaw & Rustin.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will occur in Session 0 over Discord. The characters will be stored in a Roll20 game I will have set up. Come with an idea in mind, but expect to adjust to other players wants and the story.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Webcam is not necessary, but is welcome. A decent microphone and internet connection is required so that we can understand you clearly. This is not Play by Post. No dice is needed. This will be played in Roll20

What Wes Franks brings to the table

I bring audio for setting the atmosphere, maps, character art for NPCs, and full detailed locales that feel lived in for your characters to play through. If the Chronicle goes long term enough, I may commission art of the Cabal.

Safety

How Wes Franks creates a safe table

I have a Discord server where all game planning will occur. There a Lines and Veils document will be provided and must be completed before Session 0. During Session 0, we will outline safety with lines and veils and what tools I use at my table. Then there will be a Chronicle breakdown, going over the time it takes place, the setting, and the overall themes involved. We will then go over characters and then create them.
