How to prepare

This is an asynchronous play-by-post game played by Discord with the Avrae bot. This means that posts will be made throughout the week; it's to the pace of the group. All playing will be done by text, making things accessible for those who aren't able to use voice. I will update at least daily. What I provide

Enigma, your DM, provides an incredible experience, with the help of various tools about 20 years of experience with text roleplay. His games include: 🔹 Working one-on-one with you to weave your character backstory in and make this a unique experience. 🔹 Adding his own twist to the story and accounting for character actions and interactions. This is not a static world, and the echoes of the party's choices will be seen. 🔹 Giving characters boons and magic items and scaling up monsters to make combat engaging and challenging. Monsters will not hold back, but the GM will root for your success. 🔹 Creating NPCs with motivations and personalities, who may help or hinder the player characters. Maintain friendships, rivalries, make enemies or even potentially lovers (with consent). 🔹 Customized heroic rivals that will try to oppose the party at every turn. 🔹 Additional monsters from various sorces 🔹 Custom (homebrew) content and systems from the DM and third-parties. 🔹 Pre-generated characters or concepts, in case you do not wish to create your own 🔹 A Roll20 room for maps 🔹 An exploration and combat system fit to play-by-post Dreams will bring: 🔹 Their knowledge of Avrae and Mass Effect which they will teach players wanting to learn 🔹 Their resources, which they share with Enigmatic

Gameplay details

🏳️‍🌈♾️👨🏾‍🦲 This is a safe table for people of all types. Dreams is trans and queer, Enigma is LGBTQIA+, and we are both neurodivergent. We hope to make a place where all can feel accepted, regardless of race, gender, beliefs. 👨🏾‍🦲♾️🏳️‍🌈 Safety tools will always be in effect; this game is a safe and inclusive place. We will use safety cards, Monte-Cooke consent form, lines and veils, and any other safety tools the group needs. Both Enigma and Dreams are neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+, and seek to provide a safe table for all players. Accessibility is a big part of the game, and accommodations will be made to meet your needs so that you can have fun. This format allows for flexible and convenient gameplay, as players can contribute whenever they have the time, making it suitable for those with busy schedules. Each player can delve into their character's motivations, crafting descriptions and narratives at their own pace, giving themselves time to think. The storytelling unfolds gradually, akin to reading a novel or engaging in an ongoing collaborative storytelling experience. With Discord's organizational features, such as separate channels for different scenes or discussions, players can easily follow the flow of the game and engage with others. We will be using the Mass Effect 5E system, with some elements of Esper Genesis and Dark Matter -- both scifi supplements for 5E -- sprinkled in. Fear not if you're new to the Mass Effect universe or 5E system; our campaign is designed to be welcoming to newcomers. We'll guide you through every step, teaching you the intricacies of both systems as well as the technology used for playing them. In terms of combat and exploration, our play-by-post campaign incorporates a combat system that aligns with the spirit of traditional tabletop roleplaying while lending itself well to asynchronous play. Players will have the freedom to declare their character's actions during combat, and the game master will adjudicate the outcomes based on the rolls. Players can use whatever method they want, to roll. This allows for strategic decision-making, tactical planning, and the excitement of rolling dice to determine the success or failure of actions. When it comes to exploration, we draw inspiration from old-school games where the game master takes on the role of describing the rooms, environments, and encounters. This approach allows players to visualize the game world and engage their imagination. In addition, a mapper may volunteer -- a player assigned to creating maps of the explored areas. The mapper helps keep track of the party's progress, documenting the layout of dungeons, cities, or other complex environments, adding a layer of strategic planning and navigation to the game.
