About the adventure

Return to the idyllic town of Phandalin! Even if you have played The Lost Mines of Phandelver before, you can experience this refreshed adventure again with new twists. This adventure expands on that classic adventure growing it into a full level 1-12 campaign. This campaign is perfect for new players just stepping into D&D, as well as experienced players searching for an exciting new story to be a part of. A Quintessential Dungeoneering Adventure Evil is lurking in the beloved town of Phandalin, and you and your party are the only ones who can stop it. Fear not: with your trusty sword and friends by your side, you’ve got everything you need to shine a light through the darkness. Great for new or experienced players; this classic adventure is the perfect opportunity to let loose. Stamp out Growing Corruption Discover Secrets and Plots Collect Mysterious New Magic Items Slay Foul Monsters Explore and Survive the Wilds Venture into the Darkness Below Save the Town from Impending Doom! This adventure features ample opportunities for exploration, discovery, combat and role-playing! Note: This adventure features elements of eldritch horror and body horror - in addition to the normal fantasy violence present in role-playing games. A Session Zero will be held at the start of the campaign to make sure everyone will be comfortable with the content of the adventure. I have no problem tweaking things to make them more palpable for those who may not be comfortable with all the themes present. Most important to me is that everyone can feel safe to experience the story we tell at the table. (Listing artwork Copyright - Dean Spencer. Used with permission. All rights reserved.)

About me

Hello there! I'm Karl and I love telling stories. Role-playing games just happens to be my preferred medium for doing so. I run games via Roll20 and do my best to use all the tools it provides: music, dynamic lighting, automation, etc. I have been playing and running TTRPGs since the 1980s. My current favorites are D&D 5e, Shadowdark RPG, Edge of the Empire, and Numenera. I play in existing worlds as well as homebrew. I am delighted to introduce people to these systems and share in the storytelling these games can offer. New players are more than welcome! I strive to give players a memorable experience with fun NPCs to interact with, exciting locales to explore and terrible villains to defeat. I often provide room in the story for character interaction and growth while still keeping the plot moving forward. More than anything, I want my games to be fun, imaginative and memorable. Safety and inclusion are also important. RPG safety tools are always in effect in my games. I want anyone who chooses to be a part of the game to feel secure so they can enjoy themselves to the fullest. Role-playing is a shared experience, so as long as you can be respectful and considerate of your fellow players - you are welcome at my table!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be available in the Roll20 Charactermancer. You may create your character at any time after the Roll20 table launches. If you need assistance, I can be available to meet online with you to help. Only the sources linked to this campaign may be selected. Character ability scores will be chosen using the Standard Array. This campaign will have its own private Discord channel on my server where you can hang out and discuss character ideas with the other players.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I encourage video chat because it creates a better connection between players (but it is not required). You will need a webcam for video and a reliable microphone for audio chat. You will need a (free) Roll20 account and a Discord account.

How DM_Karl (Floor 21 Games) creates a safe table

We will discuss any safety concerns anyone has during Session 0. I am open to adding any additional safety tools needed to make everyone feel safe. I am always open to direct messages before, during or after the game with any thoughts or concerns you may have. A list of "table rules" will be provided before we begin and will be available during the campaign for easy reference. I try to keep a balance between fast paced gameplay, verisimilitude, and allowing players freedom to explore their characters. I use minimal house rules to keep things easy for everyone. Any rule changes will be given out prior to the start of the campaign and provided in game as part of the Roll20 journal.
