About me

I'm Roman. I love games, gaming, and storytelling. I've been doing these in some form or another for as long as I can remember. My introduction to D&D was in middle school with 2nd edition. Played some 3rd edition in college and 4th edition at my LGS when I started teaching. But it wasn't till about 5 years ago that I was inspired to sit on the other side of the screen, and I have loved every minute of it. And I'm looking for even more of those minutes.

I have never played a TTRPG game before, so this is all new to me. So far, during Sessions 0 & 1, Roman has been very helpful getting us acquainted using his chosen play format Fairgrounds. He gives us visual aids during combat which is very helpful for me being person that needs more than “theater of the mind”. I like that he also gives us room to role play and does rush us from one encounter to the next. During play, I was so engrossed in the game that I lost all track of time and it was over before I knew it. 10/10

We have been gaming for several campaigns at this point, and in all of them there is such a great amount of freedom. The feel of the world that is created and the immersion makes us all want to come back to it.

If you're looking for complex story building and revelatory evolution of characters, then Romansk is your guy. With a background in philosophy and literature, all the intricacies of world building, storytelling, and critical thinking that accompany those disciplines shape his unique style and are at the forefront of this well-read GM's modus operandi. From beginners to more experienced adventurers, Romansk creates an environment where players of all levels and familiarity have an opportunity to have fun and challenge their gaming prowess. A collaborative story teller, Romansk is always open to input on individual story arcs suggested by players and takes careful care to incorporate them into the meta-story driving your campaign. With an appreciation for a multi-faceted gaming experiences, expect Romansk to mix in, exhibition style encounters, puzzles, collaborative problem solving, and intense battle sequences that will keep you guessing and, at times, test the stamina and creativity of all adventures. The world you'll play in will be well thought out, so don't expect arbitrarily placed destinations, or challenges. Everything MEANS SOMETHING! Visuals used are top notch and really help build an immersive experience that will be a one of a kind campaign. I wasn't a big D&D guy, but the experiences with Romansk have completely changed that. Whether its a prefab campaign or one of his awesome home brews, Romansk is a great choice to lead you through an enjoyable campaign.

Played my first game with this DM. Was great at teaching 5e. Doesn't force the story on you, you have to go find it. If an true open world (non-railroad) experince is what you looking for, this is a good DM to explore that.

Character creation
Creating your character

You are encouraged to have a character in mind, and ideally, already made in DnDBeyond.com. However, I offer a guided tour on how to build a character in D&D and in Fantasy Grounds, if it is required. At the very least, me and others will be there to answer any questions and point you in the right directions.

The current party

Players of all experience levels welcome. Character level will be decided upon with consultation with the players.

What RomanSK brings to the table

Shareable content in Fantasy Ground Unity for character creation and general play. Including, but not limited to: Player's Handbook Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide Xanathar’s Guide to Everything Tasha's Cauldron of Everything Mordenkainen’s Monsters of the Multiverse Fitzban's Treasury of Dragons Battle Map PC tokens and portraits Audio Ambience and Music Interesting NPCs (with terrible but sincere voice acting) A series of ever increasingly dangerous foes with all sorts of abilities An ardent fervor for table top gaming and long history of teaching

Safety
How RomanSK creates a safe table

We're all here to have a good and safe time: This One-Shot is meant to be a very welcoming place where we can all help each other to better understand and use the systems present in D&D and Fantasy Grounds -- especially as it regards what can be one of the more frustrating parts of D&D and Fantasy Grounds: Combat. The hope is that we can get a lot of combat rounds in with a wide variety of effects and rules, so that we can all become more well rounded and quicker the next time we fire up our campaigns in Fantasy Grounds. If you are a jerk, a gatekeeper, a bigot, a cheater, overly competitive, an exploit user, spotlight hog, or bad sport, this is not the table for you. No PvP. No Evil Characters. Be a team player. Problematic play of any kind is not tolerated. Protect each other's fun. The in-game Safety System is TTRPG Safety Toolkit Extension by mattekure on FGU, which employs anonymous X, N, and O cards. This campaign does not contain explicit sexuality, sexual assault, systemic racism, homophobia, or transphobia. Standard-ish Homebrew rules we'll be using: -Action for Potion = Max heal -Bonus Action for Potion = Roll for Heal -Healing Surge for all PCs Zero tolerance policy for harassment or discrimination based on race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, etc. DM reserves the right to remove a player immediately if violating any of these rules.
