About the adventure
Among the folk of the Moonshae Isles spring is a time of celebration. A time to reconnect with friends and family after the winter snows. To open up trade and plant crops for the coming year. To cheer new life and give thanks to the Earthmother. And this year is no different. The King's festival calls together merchants from many storied Waterdeep to the desert jewel of Calimshan. Bards come to sing old songs and compose new ones. Young men take a break from wielding hoes to dream of wielding swords and facing raiders. Young women fend off the advances of those same young men and dream of swords of their own - though their aims might be slightly different. The same rites and rituals and hopes played out year after year. And this year is no different. Llyrath Forest is treacherous - it's old and its memories and roots run deep - and it's slow to shake off the snows. Leaden clouds hang heavy above the treetops, bending no knee to wind or sun or season. No word has come from beneath the boughs for weeks and an air of dread grows. Each year brings its own evils. And this year is no different. Join with your fellow adventurers and plunge into the nightmare haunted wood, discover the fate of the village of Horstall, and unravel the mystery of the endless Winternight. What Will The Players Be Doing: - Investigating the mystery of Llyrath Forest's Winternight - Face undead, dark fey, monstrosities, and aberrations both new and old - Face the looming threat of the Northmen's longships - Explore fantastic, mystic places and discover the treasures within - Unearth prophecies - Defend the Earthmother - Come face to face with the dark god stretching their claws over the face of the Moonshaes
This is a weekly campaign set in the Forgotten Realms using the 5th edition of Dungeons and Dragons. This will be a heroic adventure in that the characters are meant to be heroes but not perfect. A game of high adventure and action but not gore. This game will also span years in game time with time jumps and allowances for activity during that time.

How to prepare
The only things you need are a mic, a Roll20 account (free), and a Discord account (free). There will be a Google doc detailing character creation featuring a curated list of Races, Classes, and Archetypes as well as a few House rules. There will also be a world information doc for those unfamiliar with the Moonshaes. Give those a look over so you have some idea of what you are getting into before the (free) Session 0.
What I provide
Maps, customized world info, and 34 years of experience. I do use ambient music. Mostly Welsh and Gaelic music for this one. Also lots and lots of DnD material to draw inspiration from. I own so much I don't have student debt. I have DnD debt.
Gameplay details
Players can expect a plot driven campaign brimming with warfare, monsters, and the hand of gods. Drawing inspiration from Douglas Niles Darkwalker on Moonshae (loosely), the early days of Forgotten Realms - the AD&D days -, and Celtic and Nordic fantasy (like the fantasy of Tad Williams, Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain, Scott Oden's Grimnir Saga, Stephen R. Lawhead's Song of Albion, Katharine Kerr's Deverry Cycle, 2000 AD's Slaine). For Safety Tools: Session 0 will be open discussion for game expectations, making sure we are all on the same page, and character creation. The Consent Checklists will be an anonymous google doc sent right after session 0. Stars and Wishes will be handled similarly but after each game session. X, N, and O cards will be on the virtual tabletop. You can draw and play them at any time. All of my games will have a mid-game 10 minute break for bathroom, snacks, caffeine, or whatever. If you have to leave the computer at any other time, just let me know. It's cool. Real life comes first.
