About the adventure

The aim of this workshop is to introduce new players to D&D in a fun and unintimidating way. The workshop will cover everything from the rules, how to play, how to make characters, how to roleplay, and how to make the best use of your character sheet. I will provide extra materials and sources for you to peruse in your own time as well. Sessions are typically around 4 hours long. The first half of the session will be mostly information, setup, and guidance on creating a character. The second half will be actual gameplay where you will be given a short mission to complete. I wanted to create a safe space for new people to learn without toxicity and gatekeeping. After this workshop, you should be able to join almost any table and hold your own.

About me

I am a published writer who loves plot twists, puzzles, quirky characters, and murder-hobo-ing. I host a lot of Homebrew/custom campaigns made by myself - my most popular being Murder Mystery one-shots and short campaigns run by Cards Against Humanity. My main focus is on short campaigns (4-15 sessions) and one-shots because I understand that life gets busy and sometimes you just need 1 or 2 sessions of DnD to keep you going but don't have it in you to commit long-term. That's okay. I am here for you. My campaigns include background music, maps, custom tokens, unique characters, handouts, secrets, post-session feedback forms, and so much more. My groups are open to players of ANY LEVEL. I am very good at teaching new people - I actually host a DnD Beginner's Workshop every few months - and I love finding loopholes in my more experienced players' actions. If you want to see me in action, you can watch me on Twitch.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during the session after the rules and gameplay have been explained. We will be using DnDBeyond to create them because it is super user-friendly and great for newbies. We will do this together.

The current party

Ideal for people who have never played D&D and want to get a crash course in basics. After this workshop, you will be able to join any table and feel fairly comfortable to hold your own.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please ensure that you have the following: a book and pen for notes, Discord, either Firefox or Chrome browsers, and a mic. Video would be preferred, but is not necessary. You will receive everything else you need during the session.

What assassin_renata brings to the table

I will provide: - maps - source links to DnD rules etc - a discord server full of DnD nerds for you to engage with and learn from

Safety

How assassin_renata creates a safe table

I will send a form for you to fill in prior to the game where you can indicate what topics you are okay with, what your hard limits are, what your expectations are, and a list of my rules. I will also send a Post-Game optional feedback form to improve for future sessions.
