[RP-Lite]Storm Lord's Wrath Trilogy!
Fend off threats to the town of Leilon, stop the evil plots of Talos the stormbringer and Myrkul the lord of undead. Build a town, stop the evil!
About the adventure
Save the Sword Coast! Subvert Evil Plots to Conquer Leilon! Defeat Undead Hordes and Cultists! Be Heroes! The plot follows a band of adventurers who have successfully saved Phandalin from the scourge of Talos and the winged fury of Cryovain. Our heroic trio may be seeking some new aide as they stumble upon new nefarious plots threatening the livelihood of the Settlers of Leilon. The party's focus turns southward to aide the frontier township of Leilon in some recent troubles. The townsfolk struggle to rebuild this long abandoned placed and bring new stability to the region. Dark forces gather to take root in the region as well seeking to halt settlement and find artifacts of great power. Your party will gather in town and undertake an adventure to assist the region with impending disaster. This module is relatively linear with optional quests; however, players are encouraged to think outside the box for solutions and ways to proceed! The campaign is expected to run from level 7 through level 12 to 13 depending on some factors. Extension to other WOTC content may be discussed as the group nears the end of the trilogy. ***This adventure is to join an existing party of 3 adventurers. This group is Roleplay-lite with a focus on encounters and combat. Heavy role-players may not enjoy this style of play fully. All new sign-ups will undergo a brief 30-45 minute session zero before acceptance. *** Music provided includes the Discography of Will Savino - Music D20, commercial use permission granted. About me
Are you new to Role Playing Games? Want to learn and you're intimidated after listening to a dozen podcasts and reading how you need a 'perfect build'? Are you interested in sinking your teeth into D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, or Starfinder, but don't have a group? Look no further because I've been there and done that! Through my life D&D has popped up occasionally, yet would always fall by the wayside because I "didn't have the friends to play". Well, in early 2021 that all changed due to my lovely wife. I mentioned it one day at lunch and she said this simple phrase, "Sounds fun. I can get people if you want." She came back with 15 invites and 7 confirmations...a huge party for a first time DM that's for sure! Luckily for you, if you're already here, you don't necessarily need an awesome person like my spouse to help you get started! You already found the perfect place here at SPG to find a group and a GM (me!) to help you get started into this wonderful world of fantasy and imagination! What I love about TTRPGs is setting up scenarios, playing through combat, and seeing what whacky and crazy ideas my players come up with! Some of the best moments happen when a player starts off with "So…I have a crazy idea…". Don't forget that! My passion is bringing in new or inexperienced players into this wonderful hobby with care and patience. So if you're a new player I WANT to teach you everything you need/want to know! I love helping players bring their character concept to life by helping guide them through character creation and building a backstory. Working with a player on their character and integrating their adventurer's backstory into a living world is what I strive for in many of my campaigns. It brings true joy when a player falls in love with their character concept and actually sees it play out in session! Once your character is all set, expect a living world, some cool adventures and a story driven not just by me, but by the table as a whole! All games are run on Roll20 VTT using Discord for Chat/Video (optional video). In-Game Music largely composed by Will Savino [https://wsavino.com/] Roll20 Pro Access & Extensive Compendium Access! **UPDATE** Well, nearly after 1.5 years at the table, I still cannot recommend Doug enough. The longer our story went, the more invested he became in our stories, weaving module and homebrew content, bringing our backstories and NPC's to life, AND pulling in former players to tie them back into the story as they were available. (My PC's sister ended up becoming one of our favorite NPC's!) While sad this story is coming to a close, I am very much looking forward to hoping in at his table again. I am new to DND (playing since June/July 2021) it has been so helpful and such a great learning experience to have Doug as my GM. He will help guide you through how to make the most of your character and is willing to take on fun challenges as a GM for the benefit of the PC's. It is obvious he is putting in the work to make each session worth it. One particular session started as a solo one where he was able to flesh out the backstory for my PC and he did a fantastic job with it! Also the practice of every session asking if we had fun and if there is anything we want to see more or less of has led to excellent conversation and growth for our group. I highly recommend him to anyone new or experienced - you will not be disappointed and will definitely have a great time!
Doug is one of the best GMs I've had the pleasure of playing with, and you can absolutely tell that he cares so much about the game and his players. While most of the time that I've struggled finding DMs that don't "inadvertently" punish their players for being nontraditional, but Doug's been more than willing to indulge in my shenanigans and make it a rich part of the world.
Dungeon Doug is very invested in his games and you as a player. He is always reaching out to make sure that you personally have fun and finds creative ways to implement your character into his custom games. He is very knowledgeable about the game but at the same time, he is always open to creative ideas and lets the game go whether it screws up his initial plan or not which is very rare in a DM. He goes through your backstory and makes cool side quests for them which inevitably progresses through the campaign. He is one of my favorite DMs and I highly recommend him.
As soon as I found start playing I joined a couple of games to experience the site as a paying customer before hosting games myself, I hadn’t planed to be a player to long (I usually prefer to be the dm) but I was lucky enough to choose Doug’s Dragon of Icespire peek campaign. I was surprised by how much fun I had as a player IN HIS game, and we’ve been playing for over a year now. Doug kept a fairly simple pre-written adventure for low level characters interesting and fresh (even for an old timer like myself). He has always been fair and consistent with rules (mostly as written) while still acknowledging “the rule of cool” when appropriate for the situation. When we’ve done unexpected things he still provided a fun game without limiting our options, while still keeping the adventure on track. As a long time game master myself, I know that isn’t always easy lol He’s been a great GM (I don’t give that compliment lightly) I would definitely recommend Doug if your looking for your next DM!
Character creation
Creating your character
This is a breaking point in an ongoing campaign. Some players will be carrying forward their characters from the previous campaign arc Dragon of Icespire Peak. Any new players will be expected to join me for a 30-45 minute 1 on 1, or small group, Session Zero. During this time we will discuss initial character concepts and you will have some time to work on your character prior to session time. Sheets must be created on Roll20. If created in DND Beyond please send me the sheet. You are responsible for the plugin connectivity to Roll20. All characters will begin as level 7.
This is a once a month campaign for the time being every 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 9pm EST. This campaign MAY adjust to a weekly schedule some time in the future. This is a second Arc of an existing campaign. The group currently has 3 players who are roleplay-lite and encounter-heavy (ie. focused on objectives and completion of tasks at hand). Any are welcome after approval

How Dungeon Doug creates a safe table
Characters have full freedom of choice in how to interact with this living world; however, the plot of the module will progress with or without character involvement. Put off those quests at your own peril... Expect very fluid combat. I will keep party members on task and push the action! Beginners need not worry, ask questions! I will do my best to describe your characters actions in proper heroic [or blundering] fashion. Roleplaying between characters is definitely a plus, so feel free at any time to break into a brief conversation to build rapport or discuss events. If you aren't comfortable speaking in character feel free to roleplay 3rd person and speak about your character taking actions or having dialogue. I am lighthearted when running. If you have a question of how to play or a rule, feel free to ask. If you want to do something really cool that probably won't work...well sometimes the dice tell their own story! We are all here to have fun, roll some dice, and save the world! Content Warning: The game may contain some graphic descriptions of violence during combat or other scenes. These will not be overly gratuitous, but sufficient to describe the impact of the actions. If an arrow pierces a chest, there will be bleeding. There will be NO depiction of sexual acts. The furthest this will go, and be allowed to go, is an allusion to characters as a "fade to black". There will be NO depiction of rape or unwanted sexual advances. There will be NO depiction of suicide or self-injurious behavior. Safety Tools at Work: 1. X Card - at any point in a session simply type in an "X" and that will be the cue to "move along" 2. Session Zero discussion of Veils and Lines. We will discuss items you find to be "lines" where they should not be discussed and "veils" which are topics best left as a "fade-to-black" and kept in the background. 3. Open Discussion - if comfortable, always feel free to state you are uncomfortable with what's happening via PM or just outright saying it. I will direct us to move on.
