About the adventure
If you clicked on this adventure, then like me, you probably have at least one fun/ridiculous/completely OP multiclassed character concept that you've never gotten to play. Maybe they've never fit into the adventures you've joined, maybe you don't want to slog through 5+ levels of inefficiency before everything clicks perfectly into place, or maybe you're just a forever DM with more theoretical character builds than you'll ever be able to use. No matter what your reason is, the time has finally come to live your dream. Join the Jacks of All Trades, a uniquely diversified party of level 9 adventurers, on their mission to find and rescue a mysteriously vanished wizard. All characters must be multiclassed at least once, though how you approach this is up to you. Players can expect a heavy amount of combat, with some exploration and investigation throughout. This adventure will span 3 sessions, giving plenty of time to see what your character can do without committing to a full campaign. Because it's a short adventure, players do need to be available for all sessions. Neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ friendly

About me
LGBTQ+ friendly | Neurodivergent friendly | Character-focused Let's tell a story together! I started playing D&D 5e six years ago, but I've been telling stories my whole life. I wrote and illustrated my first story when I was six and finished college with a Creative Writing minor that had nothing to do with my business degree. I believe the best stories, however, are the ones you tell together with your friends. From make-believe on the playground to play-by-post RPGs with my online friends as a teenager, I grew up with a love of collaborative storytelling in particular. I even knew about D&D and was desperate to try it out, but it wasn't until six years ago that I finally found my people. Once I did, I jumped in headfirst and never looked back. I've played hundreds of hours since then and started DMing after just my second time playing. Currently I'm DMing a weekly campaign with friends that's been going strong for over a year. I love creating interesting scenarios for my players to react to and facilitating a fun time for everyone. I'm constantly getting new one-shot ideas and running them for my friends, meaning any games I post here will have been vetted at least once by them. My favorite part of DMing is seeing the unique perspective and ideas that each new player brings to the table, so let's get rolling!

Creating your character
Players will create their characters before the game and share their character sheets. Please note that we are using 5e 2014 classes and rules for this adventure. Level: All characters will be level 9 and created using standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) for base stats. Class/Race: Characters must multiclass at least once. PHB rules for multiclassing all apply, but beyond that the only limit is your imagination. All classes and races from published WotC materials are permitted, including custom lineage rules and optional features from Tasha's. To maintain some degree of balance, no homebrew or playtest classes/races. Feats are allowed. Equipment: Normal starting equipment for your class, plus two uncommon magic items (from WotC sources only). On top of this, you can each have up to 500 gp worth of spell components or gear from a provided list. Character sheets: D&D Beyond is encouraged for ease of sharing, but any format is fine as long as it can be sent to me. I will have a campaign set up on DDB to share books with those who want to use it. Backstories: Because this is a short adventure, personal backstories won't heavily influence the plot, so feel free to have as much or as little as you like. Unless the group decides otherwise in our pre-game discussion, we'll assume that your characters mostly honed their skills independently and only formed a party together a few months (or 2-3 levels) ago.
Three weekly sessions. Players need to be available for all three sessions.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
* You'll need a working microphone and audio, access to a computer (in an environment without too much background noise), and a stable internet connection. Webcam is encouraged but not required. * We will use Discord for pre-game communication and audio/video during the game, plus Roll20 for combat and navigation, so you need a free account on both sites. All players must accept the Roll20 invite at least 1 hour before our game so I can ensure everything is set up. * Players need to be active participants in the pre-game discussion on Discord, since we're using that in place of a session 0. * You'll create your character sheet ahead of time and send it to me at least 12 hours before our game. I will also need an image to use for your character's Roll20 token. * Use whatever dice work for you - virtual or physical. We're all grownups here, and I trust you not to cheat yourself out of the incredible moments that can come from a low roll.
What Jamie brings to the table
As a DM, I provide: - Shared access to the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's, Tasha's, DMG, and Dungeons of Drakkenheim through D&D Beyond - Pre-game communication on a private Discord server - A neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ friendly environment - Detailed maps for combat and exploration that encourage interactions and creative problem solving - Narrative descriptions to enhance immersion - A focus on cooperative storytelling and facilitating opportunities for PCs to do cool things - Background music - Character creation help for new players - An in-depth knowledge of 5e rules based on hundreds of hours both DMing and playing, plus thousands of hours watching Critical Role/Dimension 20/etc. - A willingness to ignore/bend the rules when something makes narrative sense or it's going to be boring for you to watch me frantically search through a rulebook - A desperate need to justify the Creative Writing minor that I got alongside my business degree ten years ago - Puns, probably
Homebrew rules
We'll use 2014 rules apart from adopting 2024 rules for exhaustion (it's just easier) and drinking potions as bonus actions (everyone was already doing it).

How Jamie creates a safe table
Players can disclose any Lines/Veils in the pre-game questionnaire I'll share over Discord. I will share all lines and veils anonymously before the game starts, and we will review X/N/O. If at any point a player becomes uncomfortable, they are encouraged to drop an X or N in the chat or to take a break if needed. Since this is a short game, we won't have a separate session 0, but we'll use my private Discord server to coordinate on all typical session 0 topics (character creation, safety tools, etc.) ahead of the first session. You can expect a PG-13 level of violence and profanity unless the group decides otherwise. I will never include or condone racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, or any other harmful behavior or attitudes.
