About the adventure
When an unjust force of law seeks to exploit the little island they call home, a troupe of otherwise inconsequential peasants must band together and set sail to take it on. The party will travel the high seas, voyaging between ports to make allies and gather strength. They'll encounter potential allies, the forces of nature, and the enemy's fleet along the way, which will provide the basis for individual adventures. The story begins when a strong-handed organisation comes to the heroes homeland, extorting the common folk and brutalising anyone who stands up to them. The party must gather their resources and set sail to right the wrongs done, but are powerless to fight against the might of their foe without help... --- This game is set in Arbour, a world of my own making, in a mundane era where might makes right and steel is the currency of trade. The story begins in the Skerit Archipelago, a spray of islands scattered in the worlds oceans, on the pastoral spit of land called Trita. Characters will have to confront villains, survive the turbulent seas, delve dense jungles, and form bonds of kinship in order to succeed. You can expect high-stakes, action-packed adventure including delving the wildernesses of the Archipelago, naval combat, duels and more. A list of available ancestries, edges, and hindrances will be provided. You'll also have access to a ship and ship upgrades as you accumulate wealth, crew members to hire and manage, and freedom to set your own course across the seas.
Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! My name's Cameron. I've been GMing since D&D 4th Edition, and since then primarily run D&D 5th Edition, as well as some games using Savage Worlds, FATE, and now Pathfinder 2e! My focus is on engaging and dynamic stories, working equal parts role-play, deduction and action into my sessions. I love making stupid voices and bring a ton energy and exuberance to the table. My top priority is of course to make sure everyone is having a good time, even if your characters aren’t! My table is open to all comers, so bring your dice and get rolling!

Creating your character
Player characters will begin at 1st level and advance together as the party reaches milestones. Characters introduced later in the campaign will enter at the party's level. We'll make characters together at Session 0, so come with an open mind! Characters joining later in the campaign will be made before the comming session, which will likely take about an hour. **If you join on the day of a session there's no guarantee I'll be able to get you sorted in time for that session, and you may have to wait to join until the following one.**

What to expect
Preparing for the session
The game will be hosted on FoundryVTT (in-browser access, not supported on Safari, minimum requirements listed here: https://foundryvtt.com/article/requirements/) and Discord, so be sure you have Discord installed on your device. A microphone is required, headphones and a webcam are recommended. You won't need your own dice or printed character sheet as we'll be using the virtual versions of both. When you sign up I'll contact you with a Discord invite, and send you a primer to get you acquainted with the setting. Please take a few minutes to read it before Session 0. This game is open to all levels of experience, but a basic familiarity with the rules of Savage Worlds is welcomed. That said, I'm more than happy to help new or inexperienced players learn the ropes!
What Cam Boyle brings to the table
I have a dedicated Foundry server to host our game on and display maps, journals and tokens for your use. This game will also have its own channel on the Discord server where you'll be able to discuss freely and refer back to maps and documents any time. I love to run immersive, slow-burning games with a balance of intense moments and levity. I really enjoy portraying NPCs through unique voices and personalities, and presenting PCs with tough decisions with real consequences. This game will also include a high volume of pulpy, swashbuckling adventure a la Cutthroat Island, The Princess Bride, or Pirates of the Caribbean. If that sounds fun to you then you're in the right place!

How Cam Boyle creates a safe table
Session 0 included a discussion on respecting boundaries and a players agency over their character. Lines and Veils were discussed as a group as well as individually. Digital X cards are available for use at any time during a session. Each session will include a 5-10 minute break, depending on the length of the session. The content warnings listed are my best guess of what subjects may appear in the campaign, but other things may come up depending on player choices. If you have anything you absolute don't want included in the game, please just let me know. Otherwise the rules at my table are simple: 1. Be kind, have fun! 2. Any game rule can be bent or broken to improve the game experience. Players can offer ideas, but the GM has final say. 3. Come prepared to play and respect everyone's time. 4. No PvP, except when all players are on board. 5. Bigotry is unacceptable and will result in immediate removal from the game.
