About the adventure
"I am The Ancient, I am The Land. My beginnings are lost in the darkness of the past." Barovia is a land of tragedy, sadness, and, most of all, death. Ruled by the charming but sadistic Count Strahd Von Zarovich, your character is pulled into his realm for reasons unknown. You, and your new allies, have fallen into the mist, and only through luck and wit will you survive. Maybe, if you are very very clever, you'll be able to save more than just yourselves. Your characters will undergo a gauntlet that will test them physically and mentally. It is unlikely that you will emerge whole and unscathed. Throughout which you'll learn the true nature of Count Strahd, as well as the Domain of Dread he calls home. Will you overcome the darkness? Or will you join it? I run Curse of Strahd in a modified form, editing and adjusting for innately problematic content, covering up for plot holes, and generally making an effort to create a more cohesive story. There are opportunities to integrate your character directly into the story at character creation, and I will adapt the game to your individual backstories. When I ran this previously, we ended the campaign at level 14.

About me
Heya folks! My name's Cody, but you may see me as Varod around the internet. I started playing DnD in highschool; around twelve years ago. My time in the medium was spent mostly as a player until I started DMing for Curse of Strahd campaign a couple years ago. I was a 3.5 purist for a long time, but I got on board with 5e really fast. I'm a stay at home dad, so expect to see a very cute baby from time to time. I've got about a year of experience with Pathfinder 2e and it's quickly becoming my favorite system. I love to write, it's my passion, and I've done collaborative writing with my friends for over a decade. If I'm your DM, I can guarantee you that we'll tell a great story together. Nowadays I stream a Legend of Zelda pathfinder game over on my Twitch and produce/play on a 5e AP called Roll More; both of those are great ways to check out my vibe before you book me. Oh, yeah, and I have an unhealthy obsession with pirates. I WILL wear a pirate hat for our session, if you wish. I look forward to playing with you!

Creating your character
The characters will start at level 1 and we will discuss character concepts and party composition in the session zero. Stats will be rolled, standard array or point buy, player preference. The DM can provide any assistance necessary during or after (via dm) the session zero
Heya folks! We play every Thursday night for a minimum of 3, maximum 4 hours with a small break in the middle.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Webcam and mic are needed; each player should have at least a basic familiarity with the rules, but a complete understanding isn't necessary. Players should have a basic character idea in mind to start the discussion, and before session one will need to provide character art of some sort for the battle map token
What Cody Wilson brings to the table
I provide a welcoming table, access to all the 5e sourcebooks in Foundry and a paid Foundry VTT account for play.

How Cody Wilson creates a safe table
Players can expect a role-play heavy campaign that leans into the psychological horror of Barovia. I use milestone leveling at appropriate story beats. I will send out a "lines and veils" sheet to each player that signs up. Session zero will include character concepts, relationships between the characters and the world, and assistance with character creation for any beginners that need it. This module is very intense, and I want to make sure it is safe and accessible for everyone. The only thing I'm unwilling to budge on is character death, as this is a horror story, everything else can be hand waved or toned down if it affects your enjoyment of the game. As a side note, I try to avoid letting the rules get in the way of the RP and am more likely to streamline something that's getting monotonous or boring.
