About me
Heya folks! My name's Cody, but you may see me as Varod around the internet. I started playing DnD in highschool; around twelve years ago. My time in the medium was spent mostly as a player until I started DMing for Curse of Strahd campaign a couple years ago. I was a 3.5 purist for a long time, but I got on board with 5e really fast. I'm a stay at home dad, so expect to see a very cute baby from time to time. I've got about a year of experience with Pathfinder 2e and it's quickly becoming my favorite system. I love to write, it's my passion, and I've done collaborative writing with my friends for over a decade. If I'm your DM, I can guarantee you that we'll tell a great story together. Nowadays I stream a Legend of Zelda pathfinder game over on my Twitch and produce/play on a 5e AP called Roll More; both of those are great ways to check out my vibe before you book me. Oh, yeah, and I have an unhealthy obsession with pirates. I WILL wear a pirate hat for our session, if you wish. I look forward to playing with you!
GM Style
I really like roleplay and deep dives into character backgrounds. Integrating your characters into the world is one of my top priorities when it comes to world building and I love creating those settings with you. If you tell me you're from a remote village where giants live in harmony with humans, you'd best believe we're gonna go visit the weird giant/human village. I'm not super crunchy; I believe the rules are there to facilitate story-telling, not the other way around. If something is getting in the way, I'm happy to work around it. Combat should be fun and interesting- you'll never see me bust out a random encounter without some sort of context. In that same vein, I always do milestone levelling, no XP. I tend to have a 2 to 1 roleplay to combat ratio, but that may change based on the situation. My NPCs are typically well-fleshed out, and I enjoy giving them unique personalities and desires.

Storytelling
Cody is a terrific DM and made me feel very welcome as a queer, autistic person who was playing D&D for the first time. I played in his expanded CoS campaign and it was wonderful! He has been adaptable to our play style as a group and is rewarding of player creativity, even when it has to bend the rules a bit. When sessions where a bit darker or rough, he checked in afterwards and when some issues came up between players he handled it promptly and respectfully. I highly recommend Cody and his games, and look forward to continuing into a new campaign with him!
