Into the Spider's Web [Homebrew] -- Beginner Friendly
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
Have you played through nearly every official module? Does the predictable conclusion of a story drain the thrill for you? Is a linear narrative wearing you down? Do you yearn to explore unknown realms? If you nodded yes to at least two of these questions, this campaign is your perfect match! In the Lands of Arda, during the 4th era, destiny weaves together a group of individuals in the secluded village of Owlreach. One fateful night at the circus, amidst the flickering torches and vibrant banners, your life takes an unexpected turn. A disheveled magician steps onto the stage, promising a simple trick—transforming a few volunteers temporarily into frogs. To your astonishment, you are chosen alongside others from the audience. The applause and cheers of the crowd, oblivious to the impending change, leave you no choice but to accept the invitation. As you stand on stage, the magician's flourish and grandiose words attempt to captivate the audience. One by one, your fellow volunteers are transformed into frogs, and then it’s your turn. A cloud of smoke engulfs you. Darkness envelops your vision... and your life will never be the same. This campaign unfolds in a fully homebrewed world known as the Lands of Arda, bearing only the most basic resemblance to the Forgotten Realms. It is a high fantasy realm, grounded yet boundless, with vast landscapes waiting to be explored. ✅ Curious players eager to uncover mysteries ✅ Players who relish challenging combats ✅ Players who understand that death makes survival thrilling ✅ Role-players ✅ Those who can be serious when the situation demands it ✅ Players desiring an immersive, logical world ✅ Team players ✅ Individuals who enjoy a long-term campaign, forging unforgettable stories Players that would not fit in this campaign: ❌ Lone Wolf gamers ❌ Players relying on metagaming to advance ❌ Rules lawyers ❌ Players fixated on Forgotten Realms lore ❌ Players insistent on stereotypical characters regardless of the setting ❌ Players constantly seeking absurd alterations to their characters ❌ Players who fail to realize that it's a game meant for everyone’s enjoyment This epic campaign will guide you from level 1 to level 20 and spans over a year, promising an unforgettable journey.
The game will run weekly, on Saturdays. We'll start once we have 5 players, but the game can continue with 4 players. Maximum player number is 6. That reason for starting once we have 5, is to avoid having to postpone and cancel in case one do not seem to fit with the group. Long term campaign, levels 1-20. Current level: FILL ME FIRST: https://forms.gle/8gnCVVgKaShH5zpU9 The above form is a compilation of questions I would ask a joining player to determine their preferences, gamestyle etc. Please have it filled as you apply.

Ned is an absolutely phenomenal GM/DM who elevates every session into an unforgettable experience. His games are a masterclass in inclusivity, creativity, and immersive storytelling, making each moment feel vibrant and authentic. The worlds he crafts are richly detailed and brimming with life, while his stories are deeply compelling, effortlessly pulling you in. What truly sets Ned apart is his unparalleled flexibility. He empowers players to shape their own journeys, allowing you the freedom to explore, experiment, and make meaningful decisions that ripple through the narrative. The group I play with only amplifies the magic, as they are equally fantastic and bring their own unique energy to the table. Once you’ve experienced Ned’s sessions, your expectations of what a GM/DM can and should be will forever be raised. He’s the kind of GM/DM who redefines the role, setting a standard so high it’s hard not to feel utterly spoiled.
Ned ran a great game. I was able to sit in on one, and the world he has created is very filled out. He tells a great story, and has good pacing. Players had fun, but he kept the ball rolling. I would definitely get in on one of his games again. He has a really good working knowledge of Foundry, which is important to me.
Myself and another played a one shot with Ned this afternoon. He was very clear about instructions and how the systems worked to a newcomer. Use of voice acting and characters were top notch, and it made for a very fun session. Look forward to being in a campaign with him in the future
Our group played a one-shot with Ned yesterday. Half of us hadn't played D&D before, only watched shows like Critical Role. I can say with confidence that the experience was not what I expected. Ned explained everything in detail and made D&D sound so easy! The use of virtual tabletop (which I don't remember ever seeing in those shows), was so much more immersive. Startling sound effects, interesting visual scenes and animations without turning it into a video game. Ned played for an extra 90 minute on top of the 4h session, to allow us to do our shenanigans! I think I'm addicted.
