About the adventure
Welcome to Baldur’s Gate, a veritable nest of rats and vipers clinging to the rocky slopes overlooking the Chionthar River. From their high perches in the Upper City, the local nobles — known as patriars — gaze down with veiled contempt upon the common rabble in the grimy Lower City, which hugs the foggy harbor. The whole of Baldur’s Gate reeks of blood, crime, and opportunity. One can easily fathom why pirates and traders are drawn to this place like flies to a carcass. This game is a deep dive into demonic horror, war, and suffering; as such is going to fall heavily into the realm of dark fantasy.

About me
Hey guys! I've been DMing for roughly 10 years, with my adventuring muscles worked out in the meantime. Im a writer by trade, so I lean very heavily into deep story, though dungeon crawls are definitely not outside my wheelhouse. That being said, I can take on anything, and usually have several "session zeros" to find out what kind of game would be the most fun for everyone involved. From dark horror landscapes to whimsical high fantasy romps, ask and you shall receive. Lets play and make new long-lasting friendships in this amazing gift of a game.

Creating your character
I will personally sit with each player to craft their perfect character for this campaign. No time limits, no charge for these sessions. They will be considered Prep Sessions.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
A knowledge of the world that surrounds both Balders Gate and the multiverse it exists in would be most appreciated, but not required by any means. Players will also need a mic, a DND beyond account, and a discord.
What Mike brings to the table
A group portrait will be created post game, as a gift to the players upon completion of the campaign.

How Mike creates a safe table
I am going to be leaning heavily on the Open Door policy for this campaign. A discussion will be held about "fade to black" and similar moments in the campaign, as well as the amount of visceral detail that goes into descriptions and combat. After our Session Zero and Limits Discussion, my door will be open during daylight hours for anything players want to talk about visive the campaign and anything that may be bothering them. Any and all topics are open and I'm going to do my best to make sure my players feel safe and aren't disturbed by the game.
