About the adventure

A beginner-friendly game for those interested in learning how to play Blades in the Dark and learn about the Forged in the Dark System. No TTRPG experience is necessary. Come and learn the ropes of surviving as a scoundrel from one of Doskvol's Premier Rogues without Measure, Mssr. Veritin Blackfoot. Learn how to count and beat clocks, set risks, stake claims, and pull off the perfect nefarious deeds. As you explore the city of Doskvol and learn it's many secrets and vice dens you'll need to mind both your purse and your neck to make sure you live to wile away as rouges another day. Come and dance in the twilight set by the flickering Electroplasmic lamps against the city of endless night.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created during session 0, I will have pdfs of the different Scoundrel types to send to players when we get to the character creation portion of the session.

The current party

This is going to be a 4 session mini-campaign to teach the basics of play for Blades in the Dark and introduce new players to the Forged in the Dark system and other systems like it. Please understand that this game is Mature by nature and that limits and things talked about in session 0 will be important throughout the entirety of the campaign and failure to respect others at the table will result in a conversation and the possibility of being ejected from the table with no refund.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have a mic and a quiet place for the session, or at least as quiet as you are capable of having. Voice chat is done through Discord while play itself will happen in Roll20. We will use the dice roller in Roll20, if you do want to roll physical dice that is fine, I go by the honor system so no need to worry about streaming or recording dice rolls.

What Thomas "Grimm" Shuman brings to the table

Several Full-color maps for play will be used throughout the session, and a hopefully educational and exhilarating experience to welcome you into the city of Doskvol and the myriad of secrets it's always shadowed streets hide.

How Thomas "Grimm" Shuman creates a safe table

I use A session 0 to go over the parties goals and desires as well as character generation as a group, feel free to have an idea coming in but the character at the table should be the one that the group builds together, things that would be secret from the group can be talked about in chat or a side session. During play Blades in the Dark is inherently tied to dark and heavy themes and structures, one of the things I do to make sure everyone at the table is understading of that is we will be going over lines and veils beore hand so I know what is and is not ok, we also use the X,N,O system durring play itself through dirrect dms to me so that no one has to worry about the table judging them. After play I have scheduled a 15 minute debriefing to go over what happened, and make sure that the table is comfortable going into any further sessions.
