About the adventure

In this all new and original multi-faceted campaign, your PCs will undertake various adventures and quests to bring glory not only to yourselves as individuals and as an adventuring party, but also to your race, village and clan. The setting of ELEMENTAL WORLD is an original milieu containing many varied regions, kingdoms and other domains for your party to adventure in. There is also plenty of wilderness separating these areas for the party to find action and adventure in as well, or potentially get lost! The planet of ELEMENTAL WORLD is known for having an above average number of major and minor storms, as well as more devastating natural disasters like earthquakes, tidal waves and volcanic eruptions. This is the reason the inhabitants call it...ELEMENTAL WORLD. Ties to the Elements of nature are strong in this world, and most inhabitants revere these as spirits to be worshipped or feared. The predominant species, the Dogmen, are the most numerous inhabitants of ELEMENTAL WORLD. From their Capital, known as Canine City, they attempt to exert their influence and domination over the other races ELEMENTAL WORLD. The central adventure site, The Isle of the Dog, is the Main Campaign area and starting point for the PCs and their adventures. It is where the Dogmen hold sway over a loose Confederation of territories that most times pay heed to the Dogmen's laws and ways, but there are revolutionaries among them. From these places come the heroes of ELEMENTAL WORLD. JOIN THEM!

About me

I have been running and playing Dungeons and Dragons since 1980. Since 1984, when my brother stopped running games at our home, I have been the primary GM for all Dungeons and Dragons versions/editions, as well as other game systems and rules, for the Arlington Gaming Club. I have been president of the club since 1986. I have played all D and D rules and it's precursors (Chainmail, Eldritch Wizardry, etc) up to 3.5. I would describe the current edition we use as 3.5+, using the vitality and wounds rules from the SRD/Star Wars revised core rules for combat. Systems I have run include D&D, Top Secret, Star Frontiers, Star Wars RPG, Chill, TimeMaster, Traveller, Cyberpunk, Gamma World, Harnmaster, Gurps, Mob, d20 Modern/Future/Past/Urban Arcana and many more I can't recall at the present moment I prefer to run campaigns, but do have some good one offs, although my one offs usually take more than one session. My present home campaign has a somewhat slow pace and is not for all, but I plan to bring some elements of that game to my online campaign to make it more all encompassing. ALL of my campaigns are full immersion, what some would call living world, ALL actions have an effect on the campaign as a whole, with the PCs actions being the most influential to the storyline.

Character creation

Creating your character

All players will create their own PC. This session 0 is for that. All PCs start at 1st level but may have a higher ECL (Effective Character Level) depending on their race or type.

The current party

A special half price PC creation Session Zero for 4 lucky participants. This is for those who have been waiting and wanting to make a PC for my ELEMENTAL WORLD Campaign Setting. Book it now so you can get into this amazing ongoing campaign. At this point the first groups will have completed my LORDS OF DOGTOWN Campaign Adventure, and most likely built excitement in their friends and fellow gamers. Finally, a chance has come for you to get into this great campaign! AND AT HALF PRICE TOO!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should be familiar with the rules set and PC creation in particular. This is D&D 3.5 using the vitality and wounds system for combat as seen in the Star Wars RPG Revised Core Rules and at d20SRD.org under VARIANT RULES click on the ADVENTURING link. If you have played d20/D&D 3.5/PF 1e or any of their clones this system should be familiar to you already. 1) Cam and mic set. NO PHONES, you MUST have something besides a phone, i.e. full size or laptop computer or good large (10" or larger) high resolution tablet to play in my games. 2) Discord downloaded and open, also please send me your Discord handle here on SPG in a private message 3) Players will be sent initial game information here on SPG, but all further contact will be on Discord unless I cannot contact you there. 4) Dice, pencil, paper, etc. as needed or wanted NOTE: You will use your own dice with cam on rolls for players when needed. I generally use the honor system on rolls but may call for a cam shot on important or crucial rolls. 5) Character sheets can be filled out on paper, printed or form filled. Use whatever method you prefer. Players can use any style of 3.5 or d20 sheet they want. Be it a homemade sheet, one from online you find or one you have from one of the books or the like. You will also need a way to share the sheet online if needed, be it by camera or screen share. 6) Players are expected to stay the whole session to get familiar with me, the other players and their characters, and to gain more information about the campaign setting. 7) Players who sign up for these Campaign Adventure sessions and then do not participate, will be removed from the campaign at my discretion, to open a seat for a player who wants to participate. Please skip any sessions you know you will not be able to attend at least 36 hours prior to that sessions start time. Players who do not skip sessions they will miss will still be charged to hold their seat in the campaign.

What Commodore Snake brings to the table

I bring over 40 years of Game Master experience and adventure, having run 6 different campaigns during that time, each lasting 10 years or more. I currently run 3 home campaigns, the longest of which has been going since 2007. I do a multitude of voices and am big on setting the scene and attitude of an encounter, location, person or other item/area of interest. I use no special effects, music, lighting, etc. Maps and other needed documents will be shown online only.

Safety

How Commodore Snake creates a safe table

PLEASE READ ALL GAME INFO, DETAILS, PREP MATERIALS, ETC. THAT ARE INCLUDED IN THIS WRITE UP AS IT WILL ANSWER ALMOST ALL FAQs. I do not censor my self or my players. I believe in and embrace freedom of speech, expression and religion. While NONE of this is the core focus of this campaign or any adventure, any and all offensive or otherwise bothersome topics MAY be discussed and/or mentioned during gameplay. For those reasons and because of SPG's code of conduct/safety guidlines I checked as many content boxes as I thought might apply to cover my ass. If you are easily offended this is not the game for you. Direct personal attacks on me or other players is an exception to this rule! My games are generally slower paced than most. I spend more time on descriptions and details that others may avoid. This can include building or room details, the feeling and/or attitude in a new village or town, legal issues, societal issues or other items needing a more thorough description. I run combat on a battlemap with miniatures. I like the combat to be detailed, but I like to think I keep the action moving at a good pace. I try to do everything by the book as much as is possible and reasonable without slowing the pace too much. Also, I like to let the dice fall where they may and do not pull punches, so PC deaths are possible, especially at low level, and at any level with the critical hit sysyem used.
