About the adventure

"On the volcanic island of Kyme in the year 17 AL, things are uneasy. Three nations exist in a tenuous truce, still recovering from the Eight Years’ War that “ended” nearly two decades ago. To the southwest, Dileas exists as a monument to political machinations, nobility, and bureaucracy, silently judging their neighbors for barbarous systems of government. To the southeast, Leuktra emerges as the technological titan. With foundries, workshops, and emerging industrial power, they mock their neighbors for lack of intellectual curiosity. To the north, Syrcaesa stands as a laconic testament to history, tradition, and honor. Militarized, stratified, and loyal, they see weakness in their neighbors lack of discipline. And in the center, the impassable Pindus Mountain range. Thought to be the remnants of a long forgotten deific war, the volcanic peaks loom ever present throughout the island. But our story opens in Cyrinthis, the capital city of Syrcaesa. An oasis in a desert of snow and tundra, Cyrinthis is a simple city. Stone buildings, uniformly designed for function, not form, line the streets in a circular pattern - all leading to the central arena. Each year, as a reminder of the cost of war, the three nations join together for Syndestra’s Lament - a feast, tournament, and diplomacy mixed with a healthy dose of cynicism. And each year, champions from the nations participate in “The Rite'' - a series of battles meant to exemplify the goodness of banding together rather than warring apart. We focus on the morning of the rite, at the Champions’ breakfast table, where eggs, ale, and the finest Syrcaesian berries have been freshly prepared." This campaign will have you exploring the three-nation tension and digging to find a deeper and far more dangerous foe.

About me

8-year DM with four campaigns primed to offer (Deck of Many Things, Devils and Demons working together, D&D Western [guns and magic], Planar Travel [and destruction?]) Happy to design one primed for you and your party as well! I ran and completed a campaign virtually before, so I am familiar with the concept and execution. Roll20 is DOPE.

Character creation

Creating your character

Starts at level 3, we will roll stats together. My stats roll rules are to re-roll 1s once per die per roll. Also, every character gets a free feat at level 1.

The current party

You are part of the three-nation state of "Kyme". You can be from Dileas, the stately and political locale. From Syrcaesa, the militaristic and orderly strongarm. Or from Leuktra, the technological titan of the realm. Tensions are rising between the nations and whispers of a foreign power seeking to prey on a potentially splintered state are arising! What will you do and how will you handle the wars to come?

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Webcam is an option. Mic is required (standard computer mic is fine!). Rules ahead of time is desired. We will of course be able to talk about rules as they arise, but a baseline understanding would be appreciated. Will be required to create characters! We will roll stats together, though. You will need Roll20 (for combat) and Discord (for dice-rolling and general communication). Printout of character sheet is your call!

What Ken brings to the table

I will have a write up of the campaign / characters (via google docs) that I will share pre-session 1.

Safety

How Ken creates a safe table

I aim to be a supportive and friendly DM. More than happy to chat pre, post, or between sessions to find a way to provide comfort if it isn't present for you.
