Help Otari, meet the world of Golarion! - learn to play PF2e
The dangers and conspiracies in, below and around this peaceful seaside town are about to burst, and you'll decide the fate of its people.
About the adventure
Will a simple pest control job evolve into the adventure of a lifetime? Will your actions save, change or destroy the town of Otari? YOU will write this story! What's this game like? Think of Skyrim, but centered around a town called Otari. Veterans and newcomers will feel at home, even if you have already played the beginners box, as this game reimagines and entwines lots of content. Don't be intimidated by rules, numbers or lack of experience: just tell me who you want to play as, and what'll they do: π Are they kind and willing to help a nice lady kill the pests infecting her business' basement? or is helping the local priests find missing people closer to their heart? π Do they live for coin and take on the risky investigation regarding a sabotage campaign against local logging companies? β Are you curious about the "haunted" ruins of a burned Inn, the old weird inland lighthouse, or a singing orc's prodigious produce? ππΌ No math, no code, just let my foundry Virtual Table Top (VTT) setup take care of those and trust I'll teach you one roll at a time. Experience the game in full and while VTT takes care of the math and of provides a familiar interface so you can enjoy your game. Want to do a quick vibe check? https://youtube.com/shorts/PJNfT7k0i3g?feature=share ______________________________________________________________________ β Do you need any experience? π’No. β Do you have to act or do voices? π’ No. Except for being a rude or nasty to your fellow players, there is no "right" or "wrong" way to play, just different styles for different people. β Character creation can be as easy as you telling me what you think would be a fun character to play, and then me giving you your character and explaining what they do and how, or us shaping your alter ego together. _________________________________________ β Why should you learn to play Pathfinder 2e? π’ Because it's clear, complete (not complex), and balanced enough so both you and your character can grow epically without feeling constrained by a the system. β Why with me? π’ Experience, patience, and flexibility to build a pleasant collaborative story (What makes TTRPGs unique is that it is the players who write the story). As the Game Master's (GM) my only job is to describe the world and arbitrate the disputes that you may have with it (yes, the world is stubborn and won't let us succeed without effort. Pffff, stupid world). β What does this game cover? π’ All current edition Paizo published material on the Otari area: Beginner's Box + Troubles in Otari + The abomination Vaults AP, original custom material and third party supplements arraigned into a single, cohesive, story. This game will be played in English, but I'm Spanish-friendly. If you want a run in Spanish, or a hybrid Eng/Spa game to practice and learn Spanish, feel free to contact me!

About me
Role Playing Games were my sanity's refuge when my undiagnosed neurodiversity turned my academic endeavors into a living hell. The stories we weaved, and the love of the friends we wove them with, kept everyone going, and with each other, we were no longer alone. As time would have it, and in spite of our academic or social struggles, we ended up being an exceptional group professionals in our chosen fields, and as we sought to make our childrens' journey easier, most of my friends discovered their own neurodiversity. I want the opportunity to help your characters live epic stories and perhaps, if we are lucky, to turn strangers into lifelong friends. I belong to the Jim Butcher and WX (Sanderson-Kowal-Tayler-Wells) schools of storytelling, Gygax's philosophy of multi-party sandbox campaigning, and have several "podiums" in national (Venezuela) and regional (Caracas) tournaments under my belt (Stopped counting after five). Me? I'm a mixed Norseman-Latino, neurodivergent, liberal, geek, TTRPG and biology nerd. My mum got the "love all, respect all" of her beloved sixties in my heart at an early age, so expect zero judgment, and the (sometimes overbearing) care and kindness I try to offer to the people in my life. As well as some of my anarchist dad's, stonefaced humor (he was a riot, but his humor was black-hole-grade). Storytelling
Olaf is a super attentive, patient and supportive GM. He is very open to input allowing for player creativity and he does a great job balancing informing us new players on the rules as we go along and keeping the game moving at a steady pace; his experience really shows. Most of all though, Olaf is fun to play with, always has a good story on hand and even makes failing miserably enjoyable! Can not recommend enough!
Playing in Olaf's campaign is a breath of fresh air. Olaf is a very welcoming Game Master who is willing to teach the game and put up with newbies like myself to new TTRPG systems. He is patient and allows the players to grow into themselves. When playing, he is engaging and very fair. For me, every session is fantastic and I eagerly await for the next one!
I had a great time at Olaf's table! He's a wonderful storyteller and seamlessly added my PC & story to an ongoing campaign. He creates a comfortable and easy-going environment that allows creativity to flow. I recommend joining one of Olaf's games. You'll be glad you did!
Character creation
Creating your character
Greetings! This is Olaf, your Game Master wishing you well and fun. I'll provide the level of help you request and materials you'll need: from making a character together to handing you a pre-generated character after telling me which playstyle you think you'll enjoy, to anything in between, I'll be there for you. Should you want to make (or have done) your character, let me know through the SPG party chat so we can check all the boxes and see if we can come up with some cool backstories (they may reward you with uncommon equipment or options). If you feel like beginning on your own please do so with pathbuilder (https://pathbuilder2e.com/), use common options, and when finished open the menu and use the export JSON option to create the character ID for me to check.
The hunters have become the hunted! The party frantically tries to swim their way out an ambush. Will they be able to escape to the swamp with a drider, seguathis and fleshwrapped abominations in tow?! State of the campaign: The spirit barrier has fallen, the pressure exerted by whomever is weaving the nightmares' is driving the child named Dorianna mad... and it seems the rest of the town is soon to follow! We're currently at Lvl 8 and have solved the town of Otari's most pressing problems: a crisis at the logging camps, made a deal with a Lamashtu cult, exposed the enemies of a singing orc farmer, spoke to a 500 year old ghost who shed some light on the current threat to the town! However the tribulations seem to just rise as the town's inhabitants are wrecked every night by nightmares and the Gauntlight keep's lighthouse shines its light to raise the dead!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need: Internet connection Functional microphone and speakers (or headphones). A Forge account (https://forge-vtt.com/) A Chromium compatible web browser Opera, Opera GX, Chrome, or Edge (or its equivalent on mac). Discord user account as audio will be run through discord. https://discord.gg No TRASH (Transphobia, Racism, Ableism, Sexism, Homophobia) at the table. If I, at 50+ years of age, have chosen not to be a prejudiced grumpy old man and treat everyone who approaches me with respect, being younger you can do that, right?
What Olaf brings to the table
I have all the digital assets needed to run the game including (But not limited to) The Virtual tabletop (Foundry VTT). Life long experience in teaching TTRPGs
Homebrew rules
π Rule of Cool: Strict limits and rules may be bent, typically in favor of the characters to fit the narrative better. They will only be bent in favor of the opposing forces to avoid anticlimactic moments. β‘Initiative: depending on the situation an action or activity may be allowed for one or more actors. π£οΈLanguages and retraining of unused character features: all languages other than common are left as empty slots on your character sheet. When the time comes you want to understand a language, you tell the table a short story about your character's past that would have allowed them to learn that language, if most of the table agree that it's logic you fill the empty language slot. If you've NEVER ever used a selectable character feature that can be retrained, you just let me know during downtime or exploration and change it without the need to use the retrain rules. (inspired by FATE Core system).

How Olaf creates a safe table
Please let me know of your phobias or trigger subjects, if you are not sure I'll provide you a copy of Monte Cook's RPG Consent Checklist. We'll go over the proposed group's lines and veils on the first session. Even if you don't have phobias I still advice to take a look at it just in case. Please Remember to submit stars (what you liked about how I'm doing things and want me to keep doing) and wishes (What would you like to see in the game). In session zero we'll finish up the characters, and discuss the consent list, as well as security tools, game limits, and the range of game tones and themes. Please deliver the consent list that I will pass before the session or during the first minutes. If you join after the zero session we will meet in a virtual meeting before the game.
