About the adventure

Based on the wildly successful (1M+) Kickstarter campaign, Dungeons of Drakkenheim will challenge characters from 3rd to 13th level (or higher). DRAKKENHEIM IS NO MORE An eldritch storm of falling stars devastated the city on that woeful eve, leaving behind a meteorite that would have lasting effects. Fifteen years later, Drakkenheim is a dismal urban wasteland contaminated by otherworldly magic and haunted by hideous monsters. Fantastic wealth, lost knowledge, and powerful artifacts lie ready for the taking by adventurers brave or foolish enough to venture into the ruins. However, even those who survive the dangers of Drakkenheim may not return unmarked by its terrors! EXPLORATION. Characters embark on dangerous expeditions into monster-filled ruins, haunted streets, decrepit gardens, shattered mage towers, baroque cathedrals, and ancient castles to plunder treasure and solve mysteries. CHARACTERS. Drakkenheim is a rich setting that works best when players have well thought out backgrounds, motivations, rivals, and allies. Your personal quest is a vital part of the story, and advancing it unlocks special rewards! INTERACTION. Five rival factions clash over the ruins of Drakkenheim. A tangled web of secrets, subterfuge, and sabotage awaits when the factions’ opposing objectives and your characters’ personal goals come into conflict! COMBAT. Beyond fierce warriors dispatched by the factions, all manner of otherworldly horrors inhabit Drakkenheim. Characters battle undead husks, predatory beasts, mutated monstrosities, and terrifying abominations produced by the mysterious meteor. **Character Creation:** Starting at Level 3 with point buy for stats. Open to homebrew/UA/3rd party stuff (I often use Grim Hollow subclasses), but I reserve right to modify/ban if I think it's problematic or unbalanced.

Recruiting notes

Dungeons of Drakkenheim is frankly the best written 5e adventure I have come across. It's a sandbox-style adventure with lots of interesting locations, enemies, and factions to interact with. Most importantly, the focus is always on the players' stories and that's what dictates how the adventure goes.

How to prepare

Everything is online, so all you need to do is register for a free account on https://forge-vtt.com/ and show up! If you're brand-new then watching some beginner guides on youtube would definitely be a big help. After session 0 you'll need to get me art for your character and complete/refine your backstory.

What I provide

I host my foundry games on The Forge.

Gameplay details

I run things very "rules as written/intended" with some house rules. I don't expect players to know everything about their character and how to operate the VTT right off the bat, but working to learn & remember things over time is super important for keeping the game moving at smooth pace.

How will character creation work

I will provide a google doc with house rules and character creation guide. We start at level 3 with 3x starting gold and an uncommon item. I will choose something fun/thematic that fits your character, although you may provide suggestions/feedback.
