An Unlikely Escape: Curse of Strahd [5E Campaign]
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
This adventure is one that I just finished taking my home group through, and I'm eager to have another group tell a new story in the same world! If you have played the Lost Mines of Phandelver before, you will find that the beginning of this campaign will use a lot of similar situations and characters to start out. But that is not the end of the story being told. This adventure takes place on the Western side of the continent of Eronus. While a civil war between the Dwarven Kingdom and Elven Kingdom plagues the Eastern side of the land, the West has remained free and separated from the conflict. But has that left a foothold for something or someone else to subtly try to take power? This high-fantasy story will be yours to tell. The focus will be on the Player Characters: who they become, the decisions they make, and their relationship to the people. In fact, the options are pretty much endless for where it ultimately goes. The adventure will begin at Level 1 and will start when we have at least 3 players.

Austin is great! He is my second DM for any TTRPG I have played, and I look forward to sessions every week. We keep the party small and consistent and that's really helpful to stay invested within the story. The characters and players are consistently growing closer and it makes for a really great story and time out of the week. Austin will listen to what players want and incorporate world lore incredibly well into player lore. He's a fun DM to play with for someone at any level and creates a wonderful, safe environment for everyone involved.
Austin is a very patient and well rounded GM. Great with new players and helps promote and build upon character back stories. If you're looking for a long-term GM or just wanting to play with a good person, then I would highly recommend Austin. Speaks plainly and clearly and is always well prepared, plus is also willing to adjust his GM style to new suggestions and a wide variety of player personalities.
Austin is really amazing! He creates a DM bond with everyone's characters, for example last night when we were leveling up, he had our backstories already from previous moments in our adventure. He integrated each of the backstory's into a vision of sorts for each player as they leveled up. He works with new player as well and within 2 sessions we knew a majority of the rules and mechanics as well as how to navigate the VTT. 10/10 RECOMMEND!
Huge focus on player experience and group dynamic. It makes everything about the story work so much better when the players understand the characters and personalities in a deeper way. Austin masterfully directs the game while letting us explore the worlds he’s created freely.
Additional details
How to prepare
In addition to creating your character (which I'm happy to help you with), you'll just need a mic and a camera to use with Roll20! Anything additional will be provided or discussed. If you have never played, it would be good to review the rules for 5E in the Players Handbook, or to watch some YouTube videos that go over the basics.
What I provide
I will have everything set-up for the adventure, and will provide anything additional that is needed.
Gameplay details
We will go over any requested boundaries for gameplay in Session 0 or before your first session with the group. We will also do Stars & Wishes so you can share the highlights of the adventure and anything you'd like to see more or less of in the future. As a DM, you'll find that I am very flexible, and love to allow each campaign to flow however it needs to based on character actions and interests. I love helping newer players get started, and I look forward to the opportunity to tell a story together with you. This story will be no different and will focus on the development of your character, the group overall, and the directions you pursue. There will be a good amount of roleplay, fun combat encounters, mysteries to unravel, and more. Sessions will be biweekly and will take place on Roll20, but we will use Zoom for video if Roll20's video feature doesn't work for someone in the group (have had players have issues on older devices). We will use Roll20 for combat encounters.

How will character creation work
Characters will start at Level 1 and will likely scale up to Levels 7-10 (if the group is vibing, and still alive, we can continue beyond that as well). Character ideation, background, and motivations will be discussed during Session 0 or before your first session with the group. From there, we can message back and forth about your character, and any questions that you have! I'll have you create your character sheet in Roll20 before the first session of gameplay.
