About the adventure
Approached by Volo (of 'Guide to Monsters' fame) in the famed Yawning Portal tavern of Waterdeep, the City of Splendours, the party is set the task of rescuing a minor noble. Later, after being roped into managing the renovation and reopening of a ruined tavern, the street battles of rival gangs and the machinations of rival political forces lead you towards influencing some of the most important events along the Sword Coast! A highly modified version of the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist campaign that includes all the antagonist factions, and the PCs performing heists against a selection of them, depending on the allegiances they choose to pursue.

About me
Hi hi! I'm Erin, I am queer, trans, and autistic, and I'm based in the UK. I have been seriously DMing Dungeons and Dragons for probably about 6 years, and less seriously DMing for up to 20, including a 5-year stint running a team of 6 people as we ran a twice-weekly game for up to 30 people. However, I've found what's working best for me now, and it's running games online! While I largely run pre-written campaigns (Waterdeep: Dragon Heist; Rime of the Frostmaiden; Ghosts of Saltmarsh/Call from the Deep) and one-shot adventures (Sunless Citadel; Written in Blood; Dead in Thay), I do so while heavily revising and adding to their content and background - not least to add a greater diversity of genders, sexualities, and disabilities. I specialise in building towards and from difficult in-character choices and devil's bargains; and I absolutely love it when PCs make characterful and yet terrible decisions. However, I also recognise that games are supposed to be escapist fun, and will work with players to make sure they're engaged and having fun with the dilemmas I present them - so that they are able to negotiate a win from a lose-lose situation.

Creating your character
Characters start at level 1; they can be hosted anywhere by the player (happy for anything from D&D Beyond to Google Docs); I'd like discussion at Session 0 on what people are looking to play, to make sure all characters can work together and with which faction.
*Session 0 will include working out a schedule for playing over the Christmas period, but come January, will shift to weekly. *On sign up, receive a link to the discord server, a document more thoroughly detailing my version of Waterdeep and its recent history, a document detailing my house rules, and a google form asking for lines/veils etc. *New and experienced players welcome. I'm happy to work with you to build a character fitting the ideas you have.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A microphone is absolutely necessary, along with Discord. Knowing the rules is a plus; knowing the Forgotten Realms setting is also a plus - neither are necessities, if you're happy to learn as we go. I'm more than happy for people to use their own dice rolling mechanic - whether that be actual dice, or on a computer.

How Erin creates a safe table
Prior to the game, a link to a google form asking for triggers, lines/veils etc will be sent around; the results will be discussed in Session 0, along with how the game will run, all my house rules, and then an overview of the game. Afterwards, we'll talk about character creation.
