Alkazaar's Appendix and Beyond | A Live Text Session/Play by Post Hybrid | A Classic 5e Adventure
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
(Read the Recruiting notes to the right before applying to this game) Welcome to Candlekeep! You are a character in the setting of the Forgotten Realms, specifically in Faerun, in the latter half of the year 1492, and you are a member of a 10th level adventuring party with 3 total members. This adventuring party, whether by stumbling across the book by accident, seeking it out intentionally, or even being brought to your attention by the Avowed, has acquired Alkazaar's Appendix. Alkazaar's Appendix (AA) is the much smaller accompaniment to Alkazaar's Thrilling Tales, which is a huge collection of all of his successful endeavors... The AA however details the one adventure of Alkazaar that he never finished, and encourages the reader to follow through on it for him... the Party reads the first section of the book titled "The Lost Golem" , where they learn this list of facts regarding Alkazaar's final not-so-hurrah~ > Alkazaar was searching for a Nether Scroll > In the Anauroch Desert, he came across a wandering Stone Golem. He believed this to be the legendary Sapphire Sentinel, rumored to have been created by Netherese Wizards to protect a Nether scroll under the control of Prince Hamukai > The Golem recognized the Prince's name when he mentioned it, and followed the adventurer obeying his commands > The Golem communicated through Body Language, which was used to convey that they were very sad and tired > The two of them ran into some Bedine Nomads, who told them that there may be some information on the Golem a bit of a ways away, but that it was in Purple Wurm territory > They weren't deterred by that, but they were deterred by a sand storm that broke up the group on their way to the Wurm territory, loosing the Golem in the process > Alkazaar called it quits and inscribed a magical tracer onto the Golem hoping himself, or someone down the line, would find them again > On the final page of the story, there are cryptic symbols surrounding an image of what the golem looks like, and when it's glanced by worthy eyes (that's you guys) it activates a portal that displays the following scene~ The Anauroch Desert stretches for miles before the characters... A camel about 50 feet down a steep dune watches two Bedine men work at the edge of some small wind-worn ruins, uncovering a huge Stone Golem they found leaned against one of the walls, with a Sapphire planted into the Solar Plexus large enough to see from this distance... As a party of three descend down to the spectacle, dig into the implications that surround a much grander mystery, and determine the outcome of a several-millennia-long conflict involving an ancient undead monstrosity that’s been burning in a Necropolis buried under the sand! Alkazaar's Appendix is a One Shot Authored by Adam Lee for a group of Level 15 adventurers, we will be utilizing it as a crunchy beginning for an overarching plot that we'll be launching our level 10 characters into!
This game contains 4 players and Plays on Sundays from 9am to 12pm PDT > Between sessions, if they end in suitable conditions, we can continue the game through Play by Post during the week. The Live Sessions are the more important part of this game! > Likely won't be accepting new players soon, but feel free to reach out and request a similar game to this at a different time slot ^^

Darren does an amazing job! He works with you to get the character you really want, is open to all ideas as long as everyone in the group is as well. He works to make sure everyone is having fun and has needs met, while not infringing on those of anyone else. If I could, I would have selected 'terrific story teller' as well. I'm in a play by post game of his and it has been the best D&D experience I have ever had. The largest reason for that? I know 100% I'm safe, that I'm not secondary to anyone else, that my enjoyment matters just as much. If there is a problem then he will help you work it out. I have never felt judged by him, and he honestly gets into your characters as much as you do!
Dabo consistently describes situations in interesting and terrifying detail. During this session, we were trying to pick up an npc from a dangerous mansion. Right before leaving, my character heard a noise under the bed the npc usually slept on. Turns out, there was a monster living in the vents, mimicking the sounds of a settling house. Scary moments like these are what I look forward to in sessions with Dabo.
Big fan of the allowed creativity on behalf of the players. I have always been an advocate for having non-linear approaches to various situations, and Dabo provides excellent off-the-wall options for players to overcome obstacles with their own ingenuity. The stylized use of mood music greatly helps to set the tone for our darker campaign, and having moderate/severe in-game consequences for brash or foolhardy decisions helps to force the players to engage as a group to progress. Big fan of playstyle and exposition- excited to see where the story goes every week!
Had my first session and in no way am I disappointed. Great at story telling, and allowed mobs to be more difficult then just some garbage cut and paste type. Very dedicated to player concepts and design of the world. Even speaks with you on discord on a separate day before session to go over your character backgrounds, history and etc. If your like me and want a fantastic story with great character development and a dm that understands those concept's, then you want to play with this dm.
