About the adventure

"I've been told that Camarilla Domains are relatively peaceful and full of quiet. If that's the case, no one told the Domain of Costa Linda that. In fact, Costa Linda's more like the Wild West. That doesn't exactly make it bad. It just means that it isn't boring and relaxed. Granted, how any Cainite who's not a Sabbat or Anarch can stand it, I'll never know." Yes, this game uses a blend of V20 and Revised. One is primary with the other to fill in some gaps and/or provide some better/more appropriate options. New players can easily join in at any point in the campaign and it doesn't matter what session it is when you sign up, as this is an ongoing long-term campaign. The overall length of this campaign will be based on player interest. Given that this is Vampire, there will be adult and sometimes dark themes and elements. In regards to the content warning, some of them are going to be present because of the game world or genre of the game. Others might be present and are listed just in case, but are not absolutely guaranteed to be present.

About me

I have been a player and game master for several games for over 30 years. I have a home-brew background as well as a published TTRPG background. I tend to stick with older games, as I am often not fond of the newer versions. My style is partially scripted and partially off-the-cuff. I tend to be tough, but I always try to be fair. I'm not perfect and I do make mistakes. If I make one, let me know and I will rectify it. I have been know to chuck rules I don't like, or at least modify them (and make you know about them up front!) so that they are less unfavorable. I want my players to feel challenged, but still have fun. I prefer role-playing and not roll-playing. I am cool with new players and veterans. I stick to older editions of multiple games mainly because I actually prefer them over the newer editions as opposed to being too cheap to upgrade. That said, I am not above running a game in an edition I am not fond of, but I tend to charge more for it as the trade off.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players need to fully create their characters prior to the start of their first session. All characters are to be either neonates or ancilla. Players are only allowed to use the main players' guide in either V20 or Revised, the Camarilla guide from Revised, and 2nd. and Revised edition Clan books of their character's Clan. Starting points +20 freebie points instead of 15 freebie points. The Unbondable, Iron Will, Rival, and Old Flame Merits as well as most Supernatural Merits/Flaws are not allowed. Maximum Willpower rating of 7. Players looking to play an Independent Clan, the bloodline of an Independent Clan, or an obscure bloodline of a Camarilla Clan must come up with a VERY good prelude just to be considered. Even then, the player might be told no. Warriadors are an automatic veto. No non-physical Discipline above dot 3. 10-13th generation. Also, if I can't verify the existence of a merit/flaw/power, it will be vetoed. Lastly, no Sabbat infiltrators or Anarchs. Defectors from the Sabbat will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The current party

I am looking to run this every other Saturday evening as schedules permit. Players are instructed to create a character that can function within the group. Loose-cannons and lone-wolves would not have been selected by the Primogen Council. A prelude for your character would be helpful as well. Ideally, I am looking for players who are familiar with the overall game mechanics already, but beginners are more than welcome!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a working microphone so that they can communicate with one another and the Storyteller. You won't need a camera if you don't wish to. You will need your own dice.

What JP McClendon brings to the table

I can and will gladly provide a blank character sheet to any player who wants or needs one. I have an extensive VTM catalogue of source books as well if it becomes necessary. I will gladly teach the basic rules if necessary. Also, my Discord server has a VTM dice roller if players do not have dice of their own. I am also readily available to assist with any and all character builds. My Discord server also has numerous pages on it regarding the various NPCs present in my game world as well as a section devoted to the PCs.

Safety

How JP McClendon creates a safe table

Listed triggers are potential, but not guaranteed to come up. Many are listed simply because this is a VTM game and such topics can be common in this game. Obviously, the ST is not looking to push or trigger any player. Any player is more than welcome to voice concerns ahead of time or in the moment so that the ST knows to gloss over something or avoid it altogether. The intention is for players to have a good time and not be upset by the ST or the game.
