Curse of Strahd (Pathfinder 2e conversion)

Curse of Strahd (Pathfinder 2e conversion)

Pathfinder 2e | Campaign

About the adventure

"Those who battle monsters should see to it that in the process they do not become monsters themselves. For when you look long into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you.” You have received an invitation. Somewhere beyond the misty veil is a man who needs no introduction, who lives in a world of his own making, with designs far beyond those of any mortal minds. And he is eager to meet you. Curse of Strahd is the most beloved of all the DnD 5th edition adventures, and for good reason. A classic tale of gothic horror, in a beautifully realised grim setting and a fascinating antagonist. However, for those looking to learn the PF2e system, people keen to play characters not possible within 5e or those just looking for a change, I have worked to convert the games underlying systems and encounters whilst still keeping what made it so special to begin with. CoS A truly balanced TTRPG experience. Endless opportunities for you and your characters to explore a beautifully rich setting, punctuated by challenging combat, woven through a deep and captivating story.

Recruiting notes

Character Creation I’ll be doing one-on-one character building with you so that I know them inside out and can write the world around them. Starting at level 1. This campaign can be difficult in places (it is a horror story after all) so have a backup idea ready, just in case. I don't know where the campaign will end, i'd like to keep that open, but I suspect it will end around levels 10-12. We'll be using the Automatic Bonus Progression and Free Archetype (level 1) variant rules. Tonally, I’d like to lean into the Gothic approach to this campaign. As such, when thinking of building your character, try to think of them through the lens of an Edgar Allen Poe/ Bram Stoker/ Mary Shelly story. Turn down the high fantasy slightly, try and place them in a more fantastical 18th century.

Connor is one of the best DM's I have ever had, they make you immersed in the game with ease and they have an innate sense of game pacing that never makes things feel stale. Also great sense of humor !

The best thing about Connor as a GM is his care for crafting a cinematic and engaging game for his players. As someone with 10 years of TTRPG experience and three years of experiences with online TTRPG communities, Connor has been head and shoulders the best GM and I happily pay him to take me to Hell every week for his Descent Into Avernus campaign. I first contacted him about a year ago and was immediately intrigued by his desire to have an introductory phone call with me. During the call, he explained to me his background and the type of community he was creating with TTRPGs. He talked about his passion for film and storytelling and his work prior to 2020 as a videographer and director. He also told me about his values of inclusive gaming, both from the standpoint of creating a space where players from minority groups can feel welcome, but also how he likes to work with his players to create unique and interesting plot beats. As a Black person who loves this hobby but understands is hasn't always been the most inclusive, that meant a lot to me. He asked me about my experience and what I'm looking for out of the game. This felt like such a rare example of intentional recruitment and left me highly impressed. Even though we couldn't start the game immediately until we found others, I knew after that call Connor was going to deliver on the creative, high-adventure, inclusive and just freaking cool experience that I knew this hobby could provide. Even though there were other games I could have started playing sooner, I kept myself available for a some weeks until Connor was able to fill all the slots in our game. And he hasn't made me regret it. If you're looking for someone who will make your game feel like a big-budget fantasy movie, include you in forging the development of your character, put your experience as a player as his top priority and break out some hysterical voice work to bring his worlds to life. Look no further, you found him.

I've played with some fairly terrible people past, but fortunately Connor is not one of those. Connor is a great dm that's well worth the investment. He's a great storyteller that's able to craft an interesting narrative out of the bare bones material provided by WOTC. He's a pretty reasonable dude, and rarely makes callings that seem unfair. If there's something you think that could be argued for, he's willing to listen. Currently in one of his DiA games and so far its been a fairly wild ride. If you find yourself with a little extra money and time, spending it on Connor is well worth it.

Have played for over a year and we are into our 2nd campaign with a group of folks I had never met, really surprising how quickly we all became friends. Every week is a blast and he really knows how to get the group excited. He does put massive effort into the virtual environment (effects, sounds, maps... all of it) so always have nice surprises. All the automation works which just makes the game flow perfectly, if there is a hiccup he knows how to fix it asap. I have already recommended him to other personal friends.

I played 1.5 campaigns with Connor. I am still bummed to this day I couldn’t complete the second campaign due to work schedules changing. Connor is a great DM that puts a lot of effort into his campaigns. The music, visuals, and maps are all second to his storytelling. Connor is excellent at voicing and playing his NPCS. I’ve had other pro DMs and Connor is the best by a mile…err Kilometer. 10/10 experience.

How to prepare

A cursory understanding of the rules is recommended but if you're brand new and need some extra help I'm happy to provide it.

What I provide

I’m a writer, film maker, voice actor and long time DM. I love working with players to make a fulfilling experience for everyone involved. I’ve spent many hours building a fully decked out foundry server including custom maps, music, automation features, animated maps and effects, dynamic active effects, and who knows how many other immersive quality of life improvements to give you the best possible online experience.

Gameplay details

We will have at least one, one-on-one character creation sessions. This way we can make sure we're a good fit before diving into the campaign. These this will give me a chance to get to know your character and weave their story into the world so you feel like an essential part of the narrative.
