About me
I'm a gaming enthusiast, a GM with many voices, a patient teacher for new players, and I love it when players come up with creative solutions to my creative problems! One thing you'll never need to worry about with me as your guide is going off script, I will make up something if the Party suddenly finds a rug really interesting, I will create a use for those artisans tools that have no use. I will throw out what I had prepared and go with your ideas when you have good ideas, or we will all have a good laugh if your ideas are off the mark or you roll that dreaded 1. Fun is the name of the game, so let's stretch our imaginations and get to fun in as many ways as possible!

Creating your character
Create a level one character with the following stat array: 17, 15, 14, 12, 10, 8 (before racial bonuses/feats). You will need to have short backstory prepared and an idea about your character's goals in Drakkenheim. Start by filling out the following questions: In what kind of a place did you grow up? What was your upbringing like, and are your parents still around? Why did you leave home to go on adventure? What did you leave behind that you miss? That youāre glad is gone? What do you want from your adventure and what are you willing to do? What are you not willing to do? Whatās your characterās greatest strength and weakness? What is the one temptation that might cause your character to betray their goal? Last minute sign ups should prepare at least the answers to these questions and expect some back and forth plotting with the DM about your back story and potential NPCs from it that can make an appearance in the game. Without these questions answered I may ask that we delay your joining of the adventure until the next session.
Every other Tuesday, our party (been playing together for over a year now) is a great group of Roleplayers who are very welcoming and excited about our campaign. They are all level 10 and our party consists of Rogue, Cleric/Fighter, Battle Smith Artificer, and Ranger/Rogue. Feel free to start with any non-magical armour you have proficiency in, and 2 magic items, rare or less, then message me to whip up a backstory with you so I can incorporate your character into the setting!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need to have a microphone and camera so we can interact and role play together. I will ask that you build your character on DND beyond, but I am willing to share my DND beyond resources with you if you need them. Use the following Stat array for your Ability Scores (before racial bonuses) 17, 15, 14, 12, 10, 8. We will mostly be rolling from our character sheets on Foundry, but I import your DND character sheet from foundry with all the right inventory/spells etc on hand so it makes it super easy and fast to roll your stuff!
What Joel brings to the table
I have the DNDbeyond resources, the adventure, the maps, and the threads that help tie your characters to the world! In terms of Foundry assets and modules I have a whole bunch but what we use will be determined by group preferences!

How Joel creates a safe table
This game involves a fair amount of gore and body horror. But it steers away from: Torture, Purely-malevolent behaviours, racism/sexism/discrimination of any kind, and abuse of any kind. Drakkenheim portrays a dark fantasy world. References to the following will be common: - Violence, murder, blood, gore, cannibalism, and body horror. - Degenerative mutations that cause physical disfigurement and madness/insanity. - Rats, spiders, insects, demons, undead, ghosts, and other monsters. - Natural disasters, large-scale loss of life, civil war, displaced persons, and refugees. - Moral ambiguity, social/political manipulation, religious zealotry and military nationalism. The campaign does not contain explicit sexuality, sexual assault, racial prejudice, systemic racism, homophobia, or transphobia. Any inferences to such are wholly unintentional.
