About the adventure

North of the Spine of the World and west of the towering Reghed Glacier is a frigid expanse few dare to explore, let alone inhabit. This icy land of windswept tundra recently became locked in a perpetual, dark winter without reprieve. Auril the Frostmaiden, the divine embodiment of winter’s fury, has withdrawn to this cold corner of the world to live among mortals. Further, she has cast a terrible spell over Icewind Dale that prevents the next day’s sun from rising, turning midday into twilight and trapping Icewind Dale in winter’s dark embrace. The people of Icewind Dale call it the Everlasting Rime. No one understands why the Frostmaiden has imposed her will in this way or why the other gods refuse to challenge her, but the winter has gone on for more than two years and threatens to doom not just Ten-Towns but also the indigenous flora and fauna that need sunlight and the change of seasons to survive. Wether by self interest, unfinished business, duty, chance or destiny, you managed to find yourself in Bryn Shander, the biggest city in Ten-Towns, where the local taverns are abuzz with talks of a murderer that kills his victims with blades made of pure ice. Some are calling him the "Ice Blade Killer". Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is an official Dungeons and Dragons 5e adventure for 4 to 6 players covering levels 1-12.

About me

My alter ego is an enginneer who used to carry titles such as "QA Analyst" and "Test Analyst" until a council of scholars made him a "Teacher" of a higher learning institution in the far south. "Storyteller", however, is the title that wasn't given to me, it's the path I chose. First started playing TTRPG's around my 12 years of age and have been in love with worldbuilding, fantasy,science fiction and everything in between ever since. My experiences include 3D&T, D&D, Pathfinder, World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller and frankly, quite a lot more. Currently I'm running campaigns using D&D 5e (both in the Forgotten Realms and in one of my homebrew worlds, called Ellorim) using mainly Discord, D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT.

Character creation

Creating your character

Chacter creation is scheduled for session 0, where I will clarify any doubts players might have about anything related to the game. This is also the moment where I present the Foundry VTT system (which will handle character sheets). For players already familiar with the 5e rules, you can also bring a level 1 character (created following the rules present in D&D's Player Handbook) with attributes picked via standard array method (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). These sheets will be recreated via Foundry. Allowed source materials for character creation are: Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Sword Coast Explorer's Guide and Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.

The current party

This is a bi-weekly campaign - meaning 2 games a month, every other tuesday.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Games will be run with the aid of two main softwares: Foundry VTT and Discord. This means players will need audio, mic and a web browser. As for the game system, it is required that players know the basics about Dungeons and Dragons 5e. It doesn't matter if you only played a few times, you're still welcome.

What Magus brings to the table

Maps, audio, sourcebooks and all I manage to find for a better experience.

Safety

How Magus creates a safe table

This game uses a session 0 in order to clarify the following points: - Aid the players in better character creation and/or understanding of world/systems involved in play; - Estabilish boundaries and get into an agreement with each player about which lines can and can't be crossed during sessions;
