About the adventure

sandbox style in choice, with existing stories to uncover and personal plots that matter. We play using discord voice, and camera is welcome but not mandatory. There is also an optional Play by Post server for additional scenes with npc's or your fellow players. This is a very Pro-LGBTQIA game run by a member of that community. The Game In this setting you will roam the twisted streets below towers of steel, where the past and present walk hand in hand like the many specters who naturally linger from wars and those summoned and kept by the Giovanni who held this domain for so long. These nights the Camarilla now holds the domain, however a secret cabal of clans within the Tower seek to undermine the Prince and establish a high clan grip on the city. The spirit of the revolution invigorates the younger kindred in the Anarch movement to rise up and seek to overcome and drive out their oppressors. With the many colleges, sports and music venues drawing the passion of youth, the Anarch movement is swimming with opportunity, if it can keep itself under control... In recent times a number of Anarchs have allowed the Sabbat to pass through their borders, so long as they remained untargeted. An act that has come back to haunt them. The Hecata once holding this domain have been pushed out, now taking up residence in the southern half of the city, using the Italian mob and its powerful influence by day to press further into the underworld resources the other sects rely on. They have since created the Independent Alliance with the Followers of Set/Ministry. A drug made of kindred vitae has hit the streets. It's creation and distribution has been stopped by the player coteries, however the dealers and those who benefitted plot revenge, just in time for a new mysterious substance that may alter the players chances for better or worse. Chinatown, once the domain of the Nosferatu is now under the control of an unknown supernatural being who helms the Chinese Mafia. After some death and tension there is now a cold war between the Tower and this unfamiliar Sect, for now. In this game of personal and political horror we will explore the more interconnected world of Vampire the Masquerade. This game has been going on for almost three years, with two seasons and a time skip. There are plenty of storylines left to explore both those in the narrative and the personal ones that you as a player will experience. This is a fully developed setting, with stories, locations and a large number of NPC's living in this setting created by the storyteller with enough content to warrant several sourcebook publications. I originally ran this as a sandbox style campaign over the course of the last four years. First with two coteries, then a time skip with those character narratives ending, and new player characters in the continued world. I am starting over from the beginning and bringing these stories refined further as well as new stories for your entertainment.

About me

I am a published TTRPG author, and have been a pro game master/storyteller for Eight years. I've run Vampire the Masquerade for over 275 players in person and online during convention like PAX Unplugged, East, SAFecon, Onyx Path Virtual Gaming con, and a Virtual Horror Con myself and my business started. I mostly love TTRPG's and have run many different systems and game lines. Regardless of the genre I strive to include brevity fun and excitement in everything I do. Every campaign I run has an incredible amount of work and detail put into it for those that enjoy and open world experience. I drop story seeds everywhere and provide several directions for players to go in should they choose. Every player is the star and I try to make their characters feel that way with unique and enriching experiences. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and run a respectful and inclusive table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will create neonate characters (solo or with my help) with 15 experience points and an additional 10 experience points to spend on backgrounds, merits, and advantages that are separate from disciplines, skills and attributes. Per V5 core book character creation on pg 137 for xp costs. I can assist with any or all of that as needed. Players will need a defined ambition (long term goal, desire (short term goal) as well as convictions (your personal code of do's and dont's) and touchstones which are the important people in your characters life/unlife. Each touchstone provided will have what I call satellite characters who they have in their own orbit as no one person is an island. The more backstory you provide the better I can make your personal world and stories feel center stage each time you play. Each character will be reviewed for approval to make sure everything point wise checks out.

The current party

This is a City setting I have run for 4 years with 15 different players. All of the personal narratives wrapped up. All of the previous player characters will be added to the narrative as NPC's who can be interacted with. This game also features a play by post discord as part of this campaign to focus on personal narratives and player/environment interaction as time allows. You can have one on one story narratives between your character and the storyteller to further your own story, plots and goals outside of troupe style play. This campaign adventure features other World of Darkness crossovers. Boston Massachusetts, In this setting you will roam the twisted streets below towers of steel and glass, where the past and present walk hand in hand like the many specters who naturally linger from wars and those summoned and kept by the Giovanni who held this domain for so long. These nights the Camarilla now holds the domain, with rumors about a merger with Hartford Connecticut. The Camarilla has closed its doors to many of the younger generations of kindred. Holding Central Boston, South, Back Bay, South Boston and more, they seek to keep an iron grip on the city's best resources. The spirit of the revolution invigorates the younger kindred in the Anarch movement to rise up and seek to overcome and drive out their oppressors. With the many colleges, sports and music venues drawing the passion of youth, the Anarch movement is swimming with opportunity, if it can keep itself under control... The Hecata once holding this domain have been pushed out, now taking up residence in the southern half of the city of Dorchester, using the Italian mob and its powerful influence by day to press further into the underworld resources the other sects rely on. Their motives are a mystery to be discovered and their trust doesn't come cheap. There are rumors of Lupines in the Boston Commons. Unexplained phenomena behind what very well could be mortals whose will can change reality on a whim. A store in which a quirky woman who dabbles in new age baubles sells artifacts and relics at very steep personal prices. Strange people who walk the streets by day and night whose mischief and meddling are often forgotten days later. A new corporation that has its eyes on the supernatural, and may very well employ some themselves. Hunters and those in the inquisition are tied to a "Masquerade threat level" which changes their level of knowledge and personal involvement in the city. This level ebbs and flows based on actions in the campaign. In this game of personal and political horror we will explore the more interconnected world of Vampire the Masquerade. This is a fully developed setting, with stories, locations and a large number of NPC's living in this setting all with art assets and pictures of the real world locations both interior and exterior to fully immerse yourself along with storyteller selected soundtracks based on location, mood and themes. Each player will be given a link to an interactive my google map showing the domains, their borders and the available places to explore in the city that I have interior and exterior art assets for based on real locations in Boston to make you feel that you are deep in the world of darkness. Music playlists I have created for clubs & bars, Elysium, streets, the underground and all the places in between have been cultivated to help set the mood and tones of the narrative. Ultimately this is the story of your characters and the players are the stars. This city can be your sandbox and I have plenty of things inside for you to enjoy. Based on demand this may become a weekly game with multiple opportunities to play at night with other kindred players, as well as the play by post. Should there be a demand for it and players have previous approval drop in games may also be considered.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Operational Webcam and Mic. Dice or a dice app can be used which I can provide for the crew on discord. We will discuss what stream plat form works best for the players. Knowing the rules helps but is not required, I can teach as we go and have done so many times by weaving it into the narrative. I have a number of resources to help you learn and quickly access information specific to your characters abilities and vampiric identity.

What Rio brings to the table

Maps, NPC artwork, detailed domain boundaries, music as soundtrack to the narrative, a vibrant and living setting with a wide cast of NPC's with their own directives. Maps with many locations for each player to explore which will have NPC's, music and interior and exterior art assets to make you feel you are there in immersion based on real pictures of places that exist in the setting. How Rio creates a safe table

Consent forms are used as well as a storyteller contract that goes over exactly what you can expect from me. Everything is consent based and I will often check in with players if they want to proceed and urge caution in more dangerous circumstances. Aftercare is important as well as respecting player agency. We are here to experience fictional personal horror, not have a horrific experience.
