About Rick Wheeler
I am a published TTRPG author, and have been a pro game master/storyteller for Eight years. I've run Vampire the Masquerade for over 275 players in person and online during convention like PAX Unplugged, East, SAFecon, Onyx Path Virtual Gaming con, and a Virtual Horror Con myself and my business started. I mostly love TTRPG's and have run many different systems and game lines. Regardless of the genre I strive to include brevity fun and excitement in everything I do. Every campaign I run has an incredible amount of work and detail put into it for those that enjoy and open world experience. I drop story seeds everywhere and provide several directions for players to go in should they choose. Every player is the star and I try to make their characters feel that way with unique and enriching experiences. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and run a respectful and inclusive table.

I became a GM because
I am a lover of character and story. I was challenged by a GM friend of mine and ended up having a knack for it. I deeply miss playing but some of the adventures I have crafted are some of the things I am most proud of in life. I worked hard on something that was meaningful to people. I love that
My favorite books are
The Vampire Lestat, The god of Endings. I enjoy historical narratives or trips through time with immortal characters that are intensely personal.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Hanging with my sweetie, doing trivia at a LGBT friendly bar, spending time with my kids or volunteering my time
How Rick Wheeler runs games
My style of storytelling is that each player is the star. Your choices and actions are wholly your own and I am the arbiter of the rules and how the world reacts. My games are story and narrative driven, but it is the story of the player characters, not the setting. At my table your characters background, drives and supporting cast will be brought to life. I use consent forms to help tailor each setting to know what to include and exclude from the scenario. I have zero tolerance for Racism, homophobia, transphobia or any kind of bigotry. All are welcome and will be respected as the respect for others is equally given.

My games focus on...
Personal narratives that make you feel like your character and time matter to the world you have invested in. The humor and small moments that leave lasting impressions, the dark moments we need to overcome and how we are left changed.
Rick Wheeler's ideal table
The vibe at all of my tables is that you are in a safe place where you are respected. Where we can immerse in deep roleplay while at the same time sensing moments where we can have a laugh. Knowing when these moments are appropriate is a skill.

I love it when a player
Enjoys their time, and story or when they make new friends. When they chat after a game about the moments that they shared. Those are meaningful to me.
I think min/maxing...
A sign that a player is excited, however I think this should be tempered as min/maxing can lead to the missed opportunities that failure brings to drama and story.
