About the adventure
Calling level two heroes for a classic adventure created by Matt Colville! Your peaceful dinner in a small town tavern is interrupted by the frantic cry of the blacksmith, Lars. His daughter, Bess, has been taken by goblins! Will anyone rise to the challenge and go save her? This game will take place in a generic, high fantasy setting. Is it the Forgotten Realms? Is it Exandria? Is it Theros? Yes. Anything published officially by Wizards of the Coast will be allowed (with the exception of the Strixhaven backgrounds).

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hey all! My name is Matt (he/him) and I love to play and DM games of D&D. I started playing just a few years ago. I initially got in to the hobby to introduce it to my children, long before they were able to play D&D. We started playing with a rules-light TTRPG called Hero Kids. I had never played any TTRPG before, so I went online to learn how to be a DM (or GM, as you'd say it in a system agnostic way) and discovered a world of online streaming shows like Critical Role and Dimension20. Those shows taught me how to DM for my kids and we had a blast, but they also filled me with a desperation to experience real D&D as a player. And, so, I found a friendly local game shop and started playing in public, Adventures League-style games there, before joining a campaign with folks I met there. Over the years since I have played in and DMed several D&D campaigns, and I'm even now transitioning my oldest daughter over to D&D proper from Hero Kids!

Creating your character
Characters will be level 2. Characters should be created using either standard array or point buy. Characters will be created in DNDBeyond inside a custom campaign the I provide. This campaign will have content sharing enabled and it will open up ALL content for you, even if you have not purchased it. All officially published Wizard's of the Coast content is allowed except for the backgrounds from Strixhaven. (to clarify, you can use all other Strixhaven content, including the feats and spells)
When you ask to join, please just share a little information about yourself, such as how long you've been playing D&D and what kind of games you are interested in. This game is open to anyone, whether you have 40 years experience or this will be your first game ever.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You must have access to Discord and a microphone. You can run this off a phone or tablet if your PC doesn't have a mic. I will have my camera turned on during the game and I encourage others to do so as well, but a camera is not required. You do not need any special software to access the Virtual Tabletop, Owlbear Rodeo. In fact you can even access it from a phone or tablet (but it works much better from a computer). If you are unfamiliar with Owlbear Rodeo, don't worry - it's so easy to use you'll be an expert in no time. You will need an account on DNDBeyond (you can use a free account) to create your character there.
What Matt Martin brings to the table
I will provide everything you need, including a master tier subscription to DNDBeyond with all content unlocked and sharing enabled.
