About the adventure

Welcome to Baldur’s Gate, a city of ambition and corruption situated at the crossroads of the Sword Coast. The city is also boiling with crime, intrigue and paranoia, as an overflow of elturgardian refugees has the Flaming Fist - an army of mercenaries in charge of Baldur's Gate's security - with their hands full. Something's happened in Elturel. And it doesn't look good. Inside the walls, a plot of a different nature uses the ensuing chaos as a smoke screen. Word is that there's blood in the streets. You, as a starting adventurer, have been drafted by the Flaming Fist to help defend the city and investigate the recent deaths. Your orders are to speak to Captain Zodge at the Basilisk Gate, which pierces the city’s eastern wall. Designed for an adventuring party of four to six 1st-level characters, Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus is a Dungeons & Dragons 5e adventure that takes players from city of Baldur’s Gate and into Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells. By the end of the adventure, the characters should be 13th level or higher.

About me

My alter ego is an enginneer who used to carry titles such as "QA Analyst" and "Test Analyst" until a council of scholars made him a "Teacher" of a higher learning institution in the far south. "Storyteller", however, is the title that wasn't given to me, it's the path I chose. First started playing TTRPG's around my 12 years of age and have been in love with worldbuilding, fantasy,science fiction and everything in between ever since. My experiences include 3D&T, D&D, Pathfinder, World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller and frankly, quite a lot more. Currently I'm running campaigns using D&D 5e (both in the Forgotten Realms and in one of my homebrew worlds, called Ellorim) using mainly Discord, D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT.

Character creation

Creating your character

Chacter creation is scheduled for session 0, where I will clarify any doubts players might have about anything related to the game. This is also the moment where I present the Foundry VTT system (which will handle character sheets). For players already familiar with the 5e rules, you can also bring a level 1 character (created following the rules present in D&D's Player Handbook) with attributes picked via standard array method (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). These sheets will be recreated via Foundry. Allowed source materials for character creation are: Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Sword Coast Explorer's Guide and Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Games will be run with the aid of two main softwares: Foundry VTT and Discord. This means players will need audio, mic and a web browser. As for the game system, it is required that players know the basics aboud Dungeons and Dragons 5e. It doesn't matter if you only played a few times, you're still welcome.

What Magus brings to the table

Maps, audio, sourcebooks and all I manage to find for a better experience.

Safety

How Magus creates a safe table

This game uses a session 0 in order to clarify the following points: - Aid the players in better character creation and/or understanding of world/systems involved in play; - Estabilish boundaries and get into an agreement with each player about which lines can and can't be crossed during sessions;
