About the adventure

I have lived in Seattle for my whole life, and it wasn't until I Awakened did I realize how static the city was. Before I was able to control magic the city was a sight of some wonder and innovation, after all we are the Emerald City. However, after I awakened I saw how tight the grip of technology had on the city. I am told this is because of the Technocracy, which everyone says don't deal with them unless your willing to sell your soul, and lose the wonder and curiosity that Tradition mages have. However, I have heard there is a third option and this way shines and screams for attention, the path is unknown, but I wish to see it and walk it. Hoping that maybe I can make my city that is fading into conformity burst with life once again.

About me

I have been playing various tabletops and LARPs for about 15 years. I am willing to read through and play in multiple different systems that players want to learn or play in. I have experience with a plethora of different game systems and setting, but both World and Chronicles of Darkness are my favorites, Monster of the Week along with World Wide Wrestling are fun breaks from my favorites, as is Warhammer 40k to get the tactical mind working.

This game is the highlight of my week. Mr. Seavale has an excellent grasp of the setting while allowing the players the freedom to make their own choices and create their own problems. Any fan of Vampire the Requiem 2 Ed. shall find this storyteller quite well suitable. Whoa.

I've just started with StartPlaying and have always enjoyed the WoD as a game, but never found an experienced ST for it. Tyler does an excellent job bringing in new players and making the sessions fun and dynamic. His sessions allow for a lot of character development and bring the spark of life into the characters everyone creates. I highly recommend him for all WoD games as his familiarity with the system and rules allow everyone to learn and thrive in the game to create excellent Chronicles.

I love Monster of the Week and Tyler did a fantastic job running it! Not only getting us launched into the campaign but also making sure the groundwork was set using safety tools to insure we were on the same page to tell a great story! Looking forward to more games ran by him!

Tyler does a great job as a story teller, and thrives on player improvisation. He'll give the players a hook but won't try to redirect if the players choose to ignore it and pursue another goal instead. He's also quick to see when the player characters just feel like bickering at each other for a scene and allowing it to play out with minimal interruption. All in all it's been a fun introduction to a rather difficult game system.

Highly enjoyed my first session with this great GM. Tyler was masterful at creating a space for the players to play and grow their characters; yet he is also very conscious of setting the table for a safe environment, where no one is left out, and no one is feeling stepped on. I'm excited to be collaborating inside of his world.

Character creation
Creating your character

Characters will be created during a private session zero along with me, to make sure that it aligns with the group and both player and my expectations can be discussed. I will have pre-gens available for players that want to join the game, and not go through character creation.

What Tyler (Seavale) brings to the table

I bring several years of on the fly GMing, through the experience of running LARPs, a living breathing setting that allows for players to explore and engage with what they enjoy.

Safety
How Tyler (Seavale) creates a safe table

The game is set in a living breathing world, in which character decisions and actions will have an impact on the world and the story as a whole, within reason. Though there will be the overarching threat and plotline of the cold war with the Technocracy, this is something the players can engage with as little or as much as they would like. There will also be other plotlines, that may pertain to the Technocracy, be their own lines, or just one offs. However, players decisions will be what decides what happens. Players who have played with me in the past have agreed that I have a philosophy of, "You put the knife in your back I just twist it." This is where the decisions made whether good or bad do have responses and it is by those actions that the story progresses. Safety Tools- Session 0: Session 0 will go over character creation along with discussing Lines and Veils, and what is to be expected with games. However, after significant moment in game there will be another Session 0 to discuss how everyone is feeling about the game and how things can be adjusted. Lines and Veils: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wY-o_Jt5F07B5DXjUMw5hH3ckxV0IPl5uG37jFo7-Wo/edit?usp=sharing Luxton Technique Discussion: If a player has triggers I will have a conversation with them and then address them at the table in an open conversation without saying who brought it to my attention, if the player wishes to remain anonymous. If I find out after Session 0 of a trigger, I will wait at least two days and ask if the player is ok and if they are open to talking about the trigger, so that way I avoid it in the future and whether to put the trigger as a Line or Veil. X, N, and O Cards: Having extensive experience with this tool through LARP I do change it slightly when on camera. For any communication that is not through camera a player may send any of these responses in public chat, or a private message to me. When on camera I do thumbs up, or Ok, maybe, and thumbs down, or X. Now if a player is on camera and they respond with a thumbs up, but send me a X or N I will follow through with the X/N response. Any player may also check in with others using these tools, which is greatly appreciative. If something is triggering and I do not know what caused a player to be uncomfortable or upset I will enter into Luxton Technique response. Open Door: Life comes first. If for any reason a player needs to step away from the table they should step away. I understand Chronicles of Darkness can get heavy and that some triggers may happen without realizing it. I do send a private message to make sure that the player is ok, and what is happening. If there is no response or a trigger I go to my Luxton Technique response. I want to make sure you have fun first and foremost, and I want to stress this point again, Life comes first. Bleed: Having significant experience with this, because of running LARPs, I do set time out for players before and after game to hang out and talk with one another to know the player and to create an open and friendly conversation with each other so we know we are all nerds hanging out and having fun. Aftercare: Once Beats and Aspirations are done game is over and we often have sometime to talk with one another and discuss the game and our feelings about it. Debriefing: Same as Aftercare Stars and Wishes: With Chronicles of Darkness games this is already applied slightly, in the forms of Aspirations. I will try to keep those in focus for the goings on in game, and when we readjust during arch change Session 0s
