Piper's enthusiasm is contagious. Whether they're showing up to session in costume, putting on a humorous affectation, or cackling with glee as your character does something dramatic but decidedly unwise, it's nigh impossible to be disengaged. They are a consummate storyteller, always able to roll with the punches with a smile on their face, excited to engage with you to create a living world. They're also a great communicator, adept at onboarding players, at fostering a sense of community, and especially at navigating the sometimes fraught waters of interpersonal connection and conflict that comes with the natures of ttrpgs. There have been few places I've felt as encouraged to express myself and play in the space as at one of Piper's tables, and I highly recommend their games to anyone looking to partake in some excellent collaborative storytelling.
I've known MJ for a little over a year and a half now, and been lucky enough to play in a few different games under her in that time. She's a consummate professional who makes all of her games feel special and has the fancy tech to back it up. But don't get it twisted, she's no stick in the mud; her unique brand of meta-humor is a breath of fresh air in tense situations and I have laughed harder at her tables than probably any others. Whether it's introducing cool and exciting new game systems, repeatedly disassembling my poor hapless Starfinder robot (he had it coming...), or responding to our requests for a helping of messy queer romantic drama alongside the eldritch horrors in Call of Cthulhu with "say no more, fam," MJ knows what the people want and consistently delivers. And whether the group was dealing with those eldritch horrors or that messy queer romantic drama, I have never once felt any of that tension bleed out beyond the game itself; MJ goes above and beyond to make sure her tables are safe and inclusive spaces. If you made it all the way to the end of this review, what are you still doing here? Go book your seat in one of MJ's games!
