“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

In "Sandbox" or "Open World" games, players are given a tremendous amount of freedom to pursue their stories without the restrictions of a more linear game style. Players are encouraged to explore and engage with the world, and find their own story as they do so. These games offer the players the opportunity to help drive the narrative, and allow for the story to evolve organically through the choices they make.

Hi! 

I've been playing RPGs for longer than I haven't (30ish years?), cutting my teeth on AD&D 2nd Edition, discovering White Wolf games while in high school (Vampire was my first Storytelling game, followed by Mage, which ended up being my favorite). I'm fairly well versed in multiple other systems as well, and have walked lots of new players through new (to them) games both as a GM and player. 

I'm here specifically looking to play Mage the Ascension. I'm running it for my regular (meatspace) group, and am a player (theoretically) in a game via Discord as well, but that game seems to have stalled out. And I'm chomping at the bit to play. Lol
