I have been playing PBTA games with Jon for the past 6 years. When we first started dating, he confided in me that he'd always wanted to run games but never had anyone to play with. So, his 67-year-old mother & I were his first players. We fumbled through our first few games together, slowly learning the rules and how to tell some fun stories. I remember playing Dungeon World for the first time. My character was the Immolator, with a huge Naruto-style flaming shuriken on my back. We're protecting a caravan that gets attacked. It's my first time ever making a move and I decide to throw my flaming shuriken at an assailant, and I totally got them... and also set the caravan on fire! Later on in the game, I completely threw it off track with a roll to investigate a murder mystery, where I determined that weresnails existed, they killed my father, and I was on a path for revenge. His mom and I proceeded to throw salt at every NPC he sent our way and he was forced to reckon with this. lol And we all got better over time, we made mistakes, we told a lot of great stories over the years, and he is always patient with our antics. More than anything, he wants to tell a good, intriguing story. He wants to see your characters grow to survive the odds and come out on top! Slowly our group grew as he shared his passion with his coworkers on the road. He started bringing them home to play, like strays he was rescuing. People that really wanted to play but didn't have a group. lol He's regularly met up with 3 or 4 of his friends for the past few years and they play all kinds of stuff. Daggerheart, Kids on Brooms, Masks, Dungeon World, Roots (my favorite), and other PBTA games with some light DND here and there. He loves learning new systems and I'm pretty sure that's the only way he makes new friends lol I'm now his wife (we got married in our front yard this year), so I'm definitely a bit biased, but I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to have a good time. ^-^ Everyone is welcome! We have a pretty diverse group of family and friends from many different walks of life - I know you'll fit right in.
