I met Rook more than a year ago, whist looking for a game on Roll20. I had only dabbled in RPGs over the years, and then never found a group I could get on with, and my last true group was 2012. And I was terrified of interacting with people I didn't know because of bad past experiences, but Rook was welcoming, understanding, "no question is stupid" and I was very quickly made a part of the group in ernest. Star Trek is a passion of mine, and I was very quickly immersed in his world-vision, his story telling, and his ability to allow players free reign to affect the story as they see fit within the confines of Star Trek, even if we disagree on story elements or rule interpretations, he listens and adapts. He is friendly, and relaxed, he prefers the rule of cool to the rules lawyering, but there is fine balance and he's struck it well in my opinion. His games are played via Roll20, using maps and a pre built in system that he has programmed himself which aids in immersion. This allows for less time figuring out what dice to roll, and more time enjoying the world. I'm glad to be able to leave this review!
