I enjoyed the Mothman bossfight one-shot with Kat. I would play with her again. Pros: -It was fun! -She described the Mothman's abilities with a great cinematic flair! -The flow of battle went smoothly. Con: - The lack of an interactive VTT made my character feel "less mine". In the future, I would encourage Kat to look into DndBeyond maps, roll20, or Foundry for running games where the players feel more in control of their character's representation on the map.
Tyler put a lot of thought into the setting, the npc's, and their culture for a Polynesian inspired one-shot. It was very immersive. He did a good job making the npc's stand out from one another. The concept and storyline were compelling and fun, and his enthusiasm for incorporating the characters' backstories' and relationships into the game was awesome! While I really appreciate the time and effort that was clearly put into the narrative portion, I would encourage him to spend a bit more prep time on the mechanics. Also, with the capabilities of modern VTTs and the intricacies of spell and weapon range, spell shapes, movement abilities, and teleportation (especially in the 2024 ruleset), I would prefer not to play pivotal battles in a theater-of-the-mind style during a pay-to-play game. Overall, positive experience playing with Tyler.
I've IRL DM'ed up to 8th level, and my current IRL PC as a player just made level 4. That's the highest I've ever gotten a character IRL. As a fellow DM, I really appreciate the option to jump into your One-Shots and just play with a powerful character without worrying about planning an adventure or taking my abilities to the max and TPKing them. Great grasp of the mindset of One-Shot players and creates a fun and engaging environment.
This GM failed to send out game info and did not respond to any of my pregame messages. The game did not occur. If you need to cancel a session for some reason, at least communicate with the customers who have set aside their evening and paid a fee to play so they have an opportunity to make other arrangements.
