At the time of this writing, I am a current player in Darien’s “God-Killer” campaign. This is one of my first times playing D&D online and it has been one of my favorite experiences to date! On the business side of things, he’s been nothing but courteous and professional. He’s been flexible and accommodating when needed, and scheduling (typically the bane of many D&D groups) has proven to be a non-issue under Mr. Noel. I would describe his approach to DMing as very player-focused, with in-game expectations and “rule of cool” exceptions to RAW made clear from the start. The attention to detail he brings to all aspects of his world-building caters to a truly immersive experience that leaves everyone excited for more. That being said, at no point has the game ever felt like it was “on rails,” with player agency always being the dominant driving force in our sessions. So far, our game has had a fair balance of seriousness and levity, combat and roleplay, and of course, triumphs and tribulations; all of which contribute to a narrative everyone is ultimately satisfied with. I can confidently recommend Darien to anyone out there looking for a Dungeon Master to run their next game!
