Okay, after several sessions I feel qualified to leave an honest review. JV is the kind of DM who actually cares about your character. Like he reads your backstory, remembers it, and then uses it in the game in cool ways. It’s not just lip service, it actually shows up and matters. I had some random flavor text I made up to explain one of my subclass features, and we ran with it. JV leaned into it and turned it into this hilarious and memorable part of the campaign that ended up being fun for the whole party, not just me. Also he’s really good at handling player ideas. He doesn’t just say no when you ask for something weird or creative. He’ll usually say something like “yeah, that’s possible—but here’s the catch.” Like, you find the thing you were looking for, it does what you want, but it might be cursed. It keeps things interesting and makes your choices matter. If you want a DM who lets you be creative, brings your character to life, and keeps things feeling fun and balanced, JV’s got it.
