I bought a full table for my niece and nephews to have a real DM experience. They all had a blast. When running a game for 9-12 year olds, you have to be good at rolling with the punches, and they did that with patience and creativity. I'm sure there aren't too many groups which include a bat who refuses (or forgets) that they can fly and an owl obsessed with dropping pears on everything. These kids will have memories and stories to last them their entire playing careers!
