I played in a mini campaign ran by Sea Fry. Set in a port town in the Forgotten Realms. Featured sailing ships, cannons, and a variety of monsters big and small, and a popular NPC. I wont give away any of the particulars in case he wants to reuse this mini campaign for another group. Sea Fry is a cool DM. He works with the players, and lets you stretch the rules a bit but not to the point of making things too easy or feel cheap(you will be challenged). He incorporates music to create ambiance. After playing in his mini campaign I couldn't help but want to explore the age of sail. A unique time period in our own earth history. Pull back the covers of history and see if there was more to the age of sail than peg legs, eye patches and rum.
Dungeon master Shawn has a unique way of running a game. He does not just run a single adventure path at a time, but runs many. You could say it’s open world like an elder scrolls game. Under mountain getting you down? Well just leave and find something else to do. Waterdeep getting too legalistic? Go to the forest and see what you find. You can spend time in small towns and help solve the local problems and investigate a dungeon. This is how it goes, so set some goals, pack your bags and go see the world beyond Waterdeep!
