About me
I’ve been playing roleplaying games since I found my uncles old AD&D red box one summer in 5th grade. I’ve played with several groups off and on through my life, mostly D&D with some Shadow Run and Cyberpunk mixed in. I tend to enjoy developing deep character backgrounds based around interesting (at least to me) character concepts. I also enjoy learning about the campaign worlds, cultures, gods, etc.

In over 30 years of playing D&D I would have never thought to pay for a service like StartPlaying. Things are different now, we have web cams, VTTs, Discord, Zoom and a host of applications to help us connect and play our favorite role playing games. "Older" gamers like me tend to stick to their groups and don't venture out much which can make it difficult for someone like me who's newer to an area to find a good game within a 30 minute drive. After struggling for a couple years I came across StartPlaying, a website that put's hundreds of Games and great DM's like Ryne at your fingertips. Ryne is a gem, the type of DM you'd stick with for years. He's attentive to his player's goals, mixes in combat and interesting roleplay opportunities and makes himself available after the session for a couple questions or even during the week in-between games. I like to tell stories with my characters, I write in depth backgrounds and weave them into the world with goals for the game. Sometimes this is left by the wayside once the game gets going while DM's run the campaign. Ryne gave me a few ideas how to bring my character into the Curse of Strahd and continues to roleplay interesting interactions with my character and his story throughout the sessions which is a big plus for me. He is also willing to give characters a bit more latitude outside of the rules if it is interesting to the game which has really allowed for some great creativity in our sessions. If you are going to pay for a service like StartPlaying, you will want to have a great DM. I think players will not be disappointed with Ryne and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great campaign.
