Reviews I've given (6)
I have been playing with DM Leny for 26 session in our Spell Jammer game. After so many sessions I wanted to leave a review recommending her to anyone else that might be looking for a DM for a game! DM Leny is very committed to your character's story. She spends her prep time weaving your character into the story. She has a real eye for details and the more you give her the more in depth she'll get. If you don't give her much she'll create some for you, it is quite the treat. She puts a lot of thought behind the story and your characters in it. Leny provides what you lean into, what you show her you want. If you ever had trouble with a DM being to RP heavy or too Combat heavy you can breath easy with DM Leny she is like the wind. Shifting as she needs to when she catches on to the way the players have been playing and how that matches what they ask for in session 0. World building is a lot of fun and DM Leny puts the work in to making sure the world feels alive. The NPC's you meet aren't just there to hand you answers. You'll get your answers yes but you could get more out of it if you take the time to know them! They also respond to what you do and don't ignore it like you didn't just try to steal from them or hurt their buddy! Really adds life to the game. She really knows how to see the mood with sounds/music and she puts killer work into her maps. She uses Foundry and which lets you have cool character token and neat animations for attacks, spell effects, and such. DM Leny Cares. She wants the table to be safe and fun for everyone. So talk to her! She's very easy to speak with don't let her ability to be stern were she needs to be scare you! She's there to take care of the table for everyone that is there to have a good time. So if you're still looking and found yourself here check out her games! Come join her awesome community and hope to see you at her table some time! The journeys are worth it!
Zoe is an awesome DM! Very invested in creating a game you'll enjoy not only in the setting you are joining for but for the story you want to tell with your character and blending them together. They are very inclusive and Zoe has a great way of making the world feel alive. The way they handle your choices, with some rolls to get a general idea on impressions you've made with NPC's is so nice and can really help make it feel like your choice held meaning! If you are looking for a DM that will be actively communicating with you, is good at world building and really integrating your character into the game, then Hit up a game with Zoe!
Fred is a fun DM to play with! He does a good job of putting in the characters back story into the leading story. He does a good job in my opinion of giving the players space to RP and balancing the Combat to keep it challenging but also not making it too hard. I have been having so much fun at the table with DM Fred! I would also recommend him to those that enjoy DM's that are good at story telling! DM Fred is very creative and be it from a description of the area to interacting with the characters, he pulls it off very well! Always feel drawn to the scene and what's happening! He is also a pretty nice DM to turn to if you are newer to DnD he handles teaching at the table rather well. He has a very calm energy and feels approachable!
I've played in a few sessions now with Justin and would recommend! He really has an eye for detail and knows how to create and hold the mood. Amazing story teller and really leaves the door open for your own creative choices. The world feels so alive in Justin's games and he has this fantastic way of reminding you that you're a part of it in session by making your choices matter, making even the small details feel relevant. Everyone's characters at the table feel so much more real with how Justin weaves the story around everyone's characters. It's literally like writing and reading a book at the same time, as someone who takes extensive notes. I love it.
Finding a DM can be difficult. Harder than finding fellow players, I have found in my personal experience. So let me guide your eyes to DM Dave. Conflict at the table? (There hasn't been much conflict he's had to sort at the table yet but the little bit he has had to handle He did a good job.) Dm Dave is a easy DM to talk too. When you talk to him it feels like you CAN communicate if something is wrong. Which is important to have when you are the person basically in charge if things hit the fan. Which, while unfortunate it happened, I fortunately can give you some insight on what to expect if things do hit the fan a little bit. Two players at the table had a bit of a bump between each other. Player one got triggered by something Player two did and responded in a poor way. They got a bit aggressive towards Player two. Dm Dave came off as very calm when he called out to Player one. I was very impressed and comforted by the way he was able to calm Player one down and in my opinion brought a swift end to something that could have escalated horribly. He did so with a calm tone, a peaceful approach and brought everyone focus back onto the game. He did not yell, he did not attack either player that was in involved in the bump. He made sure everyone was good to move forward after he calmed the situation down. Even better, in my eyes personally, DM Dave reached out to me after the session with the bump in it. I wasn't attacked or really a part of the bump beyond being a player at the table listening to it happen. Even so, DM Dave expressed that he wasn't going to make any calls of action until he heard from EVERYONE at the table about how they felt about what had happened and that he wanted to hear their honest voice on what happened and how they felt moving forward afterwards. I don't know about you, but I know for me personally it felt nice to know that DM Dave will check on everyone at the table and not just the people that got heated with each other. Conflict makes me very anxious and I had my own worries and concerns after what happened but thought it might cause some type of conflict if I said anything. Until DM Dave reached out to me and told me that in no way was I too feel pressured or forced to say anything, just that what ever my voice was on the situation he would like to hear it before he made judgement on what to do about the problem. Not the exact words obviously but basically what his point was. Visual Aids! (I think DM Dave has very good Visual Aid to supply you with and I'd be amazed to hear you were disappointed. Let me tell you a little about it.) DM Dave uses something called Foundry. Let me tell you, I don't know if you have experience with Foundry but it's amazing. At least DM Dave's set up on Foundry is amazing! You got a map, your tokens, enemies tokens. Little animations for some attacks (It's so nice for immersion. Also just Animation, who doesn't like that?), Hp trackers, character sheet import from DnD beyond. SO much more! That DM Dave goes over and gives you a tour so you understand the tools inside and how to use them! It's honestly one of the things I feel really makes the table in DM Dave's campaigns, which makes sense when you learn how much time and effort he puts into it. Inclusive/Safe Table? (I would say yes.) Yes. I feel like from the sessions I've been part of and privy to so far I can confidently say DM Dave's table is a inclusive and Safe table to sit at. If you are in anyway concerned about this, please as a fellow player to you trust me when I say you won't find this an issue at DM Dave's table. He takes this seriously. Good for beginners? (I would say so.) If you are new to D&D or maybe not exactly new but have a little experience I would like to tell you to feel comfortable in joining DM Dave's table. Unless you see in the game listing that it's not meant for new players. His approach to Session 0's and availability to one on one I feel makes it a good choice for beginners looking for a place to start. He's Session 0 is very organized and I feel like you really get a chance to ask the important questions at that point. He also is very patient and I personally feel like if you are worried about being judged because you don't know something or understand something as a new player. Don't worry about that from DM Dave. He is a kind man and he wants you to have an amazing experience at the table!
