About me

Been playing D&D and other ttrpgs for over 2 decades. I'm playing life on easy mode, but I usually try to find tables with people who are not like me. They tend to be the least toxic.

WforWhimsy knows how to make a likeable NPC likeable, and an unlikeable NPC despicable. She's very good at clearing up misalignments when two PCs interpret the same things in different ways. She does allow for rule of cool, but also has no problem firmly and respectfully saying no when the shenanigans are too out there. She's also great at dropping gut-wrenching twists out of nowhere that in hindsight make total sense. I don't know that this is a consistent thing, but in the campaign I'm in she also incorporated a fun 'rumors' system that I think helped tie the party together. Oh! And she also had a full, proper, actual session 0 that I feel like a lot of GMs sort of skim over.

I hadn't properly used The Forge virtual tabletop before (just used it once before as a glorified dice roller), but MJ was able to give several quick tips to make the experience fun and easy. She managed our group's tendency to circumvent combat realistically without making all enemies violent aggro monsters for the sake of there being combat, and provided enough hooks and clues that we never ran out of options for where to go or what to do.

She runs a variety of systems and genres, so are very versatile. She is friendly and supportive of players who optimize and players who focus on roleplay (not that those are mutually exclusive). I've experienced a few of hers and she is open to creative solutions. I'm mostly thinking of D&D 5e for this one, but she knows the rules well while also not letting them get in the way of a fun game.
