About me

I've bee playing games for nearly 30 years, most of that time has spent GMing and am familiar with a wide range of games, I'm an active game designer. I believe strongly in player agency and I am not an adversarial GM. I tend to use Whereby for audio/video because it doesnt require players join anything.

Brandon is a great a GM that allows for a lot of creative, player driven games.

Star Trek Adventures - First Edition

Star Trek Adventures 1E is a fantastic system, the 2d20 design keyed for Star Trek makes the game feel very "Star Trek", and by that I mean you have characters who are 100% VERY good at what they do, but are still able to be challenged without undercutting that. I had a year plus STA campaign a few years back and loved it. I don't know what all has changed for 2E, as I havent had a chance to read it yet! But 1E definately has my 5-star vote!

Kingmaker

Ran 98 sessions

I quite like Kingmaker, in theory. It needs, like many Adventures/Modules a little adjustment, the storyline and hexcrawl play is very good, but I have restructured how a lot of the content is delivered and engaged with. I love the wide range of NPCs, and they provide a lot of interesting options for the players to interact with and connect with if your players are into that. The kingdom Building rules, should be great... and they are now that i've been heavily homebrewing and changing them. Unfortunately, the AP ran out of time to test them and they don't work out of the box very well. That being said I love the idea and I love playing the "Civilzation/Sim City" style play that it provides.

Abomination Vaults

I've run abomination vaults to completion twice so far and I really enjoyed it. I didn't think i'd be interested in a Mega Dungeon but it has a great variety of options for solving many of the encounters to keep things from being too much of a grindhouse. Player deaths can be very common to the incautious!

Alien: The Roleplaying Game avatar

Alien: The Roleplaying Game

Alien is FANTASTIC for what it wants to be, it does "space horror" exceptionally well. The system is structured to support horror and a slow increase in tension and stress. I particularly love the Cinematic Scenarios that bring in conflictory personal goals to generate inter-character conflict, potentially even straight up "secret betrayer" mechanics. I strongly suggest the "Chariot of the Gods" cinematic scenario if you are looking to play one. (I've liked "Destroyer of Worlds" somewhat less than Chariot)
