About Zorat

Hello! I have been playing TTRPGs for a decade now, and GMing for a vast majority of it. I have also worked on a variety of homebrew material for my own home games, and was a designer on a fan made RPG project. I love running games, I love getting involved in player's backstories and seeing what bits I can bend and twist to give the player a surprise, (while being respectful of their wants). All in all I just love the TTRPG scene and telling stories in a way that can only be done with the rolling of some dice and seeing what comes of it.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Thinking about the next session or coming up with future plot ideas. I may be reading a player's backstory for some plot hooks, or looking on pinterest for NPC inspiration. Basically I'm usually always thinking about the game in someway or another.

How Zorat runs games

I like to think I’m a very involved DM. I love to delve into player backstory, and mix things up in ways they didn’t expect, but while being respectful to the players wants for their characters. I love doing voices (to varying success) for NPCs and doing what I can to make them memorable, engaging and overall a more enjoyable experience. One of my favourite parts of GM is making a backstory with my players. Fitting their characters into the world, allowing them to shape their own little section and really feel like their characters belong. As for homebrew, I always prefer to view it first before approving but if it's from a trusted source then it's usually A-OK. I have made plenty of homebrew myself so if a player wants something not quite there I am happy to work on something with them. I use rules as a guide to help keep us on track, but not stifle creativity. If you have a cool idea, but it isn't really how something works, I have no issue bending the rules and letting luck decide just how well it goes.
