About Philip

About 10 years ago I had an idea for a book that I started to write about. After I fleshed out some of the world building I realized it would make a great setting for D&D so I started DMing for the first time! Since then I have run hundreds of games, both one shots and campaigns. I use D&D to fuel my creative juices and keep up with my hobby of writing (I am by no means a published author, I just enjoy the process). Recently I have switched to PF2e as my preferred system of choice, and am equally comfortable running in either system

My favorite system of all Time is

PF2e! My love of TTRPG started with D&D however since the release of second edition, and especially the remaster, Pathfinder has really taken the cake for me. The customizability, ease of use, and the ideology behind all of their source books being available for free is what converted me.

How Philip runs games

I love the worldbuilding aspect of running a campaign, and coming up with unique and interesting ways for the characters to fit into the world, whether it be one of my homebrew worlds or fitting into the existing world of a published module. I also love to craft difficult combats that require teamwork and coordination to complete. In a one shot sense that is usually one big fight at the end after some exploration and social to get the stage set, and in campaigns I play up the big boss and once the fight comes make it a difficult but rewarding encounter.

I deal with rules issues by...

making a quick decision in the moment, and listening to feedback after the game is over. I prioritize keeping the game engaging and moving over spending 10 minutes finding the exact rule. I am always open to feedback about specific rulings, and will often go along with the tables wishes.

When it comes to voices

I have 1,000 different voices, and half of them are decent. But I can never seem to use the same voice for the same character 2 times in a row.

Philip's ideal table

Number 1 rule is to have fun. If you aren't having fun, let me know and we will make sure something works out for you. I love it when my table is interacting with each other and bouncing ideas off one another, and I get to direct the group through a story together. I also enjoy shepherding new players into the game and teaching them how to play.
