How William Chamberlin runs games
I prefer a balanced playstyle, though roleplay slightly more than combat. I give my characters voices and accents and attitudes that fit who and what they are, and can handle everything from 'Theater of the Mind' abstract combat, to super-crunchy, full tactical combat. I try to fit my DM style to my players, but have run dungeon crawls, epic world-sweeping campaigns, and simple one-shot oriented games like an episodic TV show.
