About Veriwinkle Bigberry

I've always been enamored with the idea of interactive storytelling. Put a more embarrassing way, I never really stopped playing pretend when I was a kid. From acting out stories with plastic figures of dinosaurs to being a little kid LARPing out in the woods with sticks and eventually primitive self-invented RPGs on paper and pencil, I've been doing the fundamentals of GMing long before I discovered the world of formal TTRPGs. Unfortunately for me, however, I come from a rare circumstance where almost all of my friends who are interested in TTRPGs also like to GM, so I end up having to fight to get a spot in line for running the one (1) game that takes place within that precious, singular time slot where we can all finally gather each week. From that build up of craving and newly found free time due to the pandemic I started to run several online games with new people around early 2020. I discovered during that time just how important this is to me and that I might at least be good enough at it to make something of it one day. And at this point, I think I've built up enough experience playing online to try to take it to the next level and push myself further as a GM and storyteller.

My favorite system of all Time is

D&D 5e. Is it a good system mechanically? No, it's got tons of holes. Is it a good system flavor wise? No, it's a bit too restrictive. But you know what it is? It's accessible. It's easy to handle. It is why so many people get to enjoy TTRPGs today. And for that, I'll always be grateful.

How Veriwinkle Bigberry runs games

If nothing else, I have confidence in my ability to weave an engaging story around any group of players' actions and wants both on the spot and over an extended campaign, whether that be a whimsical tale of wacky shenanigans or a high stakes drama where every action has consequences. That said, I do also have a pretty good grasp of all the systems I have experience running, so expect tactical combats and exciting homebrew encounter designs! While I have run modules before, I generally prefer homebrew settings and campaigns where I, alongside my players, have more creative freedom. Within my repertoire I have campaigns ranging from classically styled games friendly towards beginner players to more advanced ideas requiring some experience or at least a lot of confidence and a bit more work from the player side.
