About Emilio Ibarra
I have been a Gamemaster and Player for two years now, time in which I've introduced the hobby to several people, running DnD 5e and Pathfinder 2e games online. My first experience with the hobby was just reading some Lord of the Rings 5e books and imagining the various situations that would come into play, throwing the dice and creating characters just for fun. After a few months, I convinced enough people to start playing, and since I was already familiar with the rules, it was natural to start as the Game Master. I helped every player create their characters, and in the first sessions explain the rules fairly simple and along the way as they're needed. I strive to run a table where everyone can shine and is comfortable both with the mechanics and the role-playing aspects. I also very much enjoy when players come up with backstories and I can tie them into the campaign so the game feels as much yours as possible. I hope we can play together soon!

I got started GMing...
Due to wanting to play DnD but having no one to DM, so it was like a Thanos moment of "Fine, I'll do it myself". Always enjoyed reading and explaining rules too.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing videogames, catching up on reading, and taking care of my dogs Murdock and Frank.
How Emilio Ibarra runs games
I enjoy collaborative storytelling, even running modules I like to put details of the player's characters backstories in them, and even personal missions that we can all take as side quests. Regarding combat I strive to do it fairly often, and even though I don't design it difficult, I enjoy a challenge and roll in the open, which can result in a few deaths, but it's part of the beauty. In order to have a better immersion when running sessions, I previously design maps with rich details, and select music accordingly to the mood, be it ambience or combat. I love when the players roleplay their characters with each other, leading to fun interactions and camaraderie among the party, so usually if everyone's cool with it I incentive it. I also don't mind reminding the rules and giving options to the party, while I do appreciate that players are familiar with their characters and basic things. Also love introducing people to the hobby so beginners are usually welcome!

I deal with rules issues by...
Trying to get something that everyone can agree in the moment. If it's taking too long, I decide something quick and make a note of it for future references.
I prep by
Expecting the unexpected, you can never know with players. Can't do something I didn't expect if I expected that you'd do something unexpected.
Rules are...
More what you'd call guidelines, than actual rules.
Emilio Ibarra's ideal table
You will find a good place in my table if you are open to collaborative storytelling and being an adventurer that plays nice with others. I'm all for the mysterious man in the background, but he has to join the others and be a good sport. Other than that, I try to put a little bit of everything in the beginning, see what each player enjoys and try to keep a balance between combat, roleplaying and puzzles, leaning more in combat and roleplaying. Also I'm considered beginner friendly since I don't mind explaining the rules every time that is needed and have most of them on the top of my mind, and if needed we can clear a doubt with a quick google search. Finally, I try to give each player a chance in the spotlight, ask everyone what their characters are doing and thinking. I know that is quite unavoidable to have players that talk more than others, and that we don't always have the same levels of energy, but I strive to create a comfortable space for everyone to be themselves and enjoy their time at my table. If you made it this far, looking forward to playing with you!
