About me
Hello, I’m James Rios! I live with my partner and my cat and dog. I enjoy old black and white movies and listening to idles. In my free time. I enjoy, reading, digital art, and game design. I’m new to Start Playing, but I’ve been playing TTRPGs since 2013, mostly as a DM, though I’ve recently had the chance to sit on the player side of the table. I enjoy bringing stories to life with voices and creative challenges, while encouraging players of all backgrounds to participate fully. I prioritize creativity, collaboration, and fun over strict adherence to the rules, aiming for an engaging and memorable experience. My games are ideal for players who enjoy storytelling, character immersion, and
GM Style
I've been running TTRPG's for about 10 years now. I started with D&D 5e, but have ran Fate, Kids On Bikes, Cairn, EZD6. The few times I've been a player i got to play Pathfinder 2er, Masks. I still consider myself a bit of a novice, as it's only recently i've had consistent games going since 2022, but I am welcoming, open minded, and happy to have new players at my table. At my table, the story emerges organically from player decisions. I don’t come with a pre-planned plot (unless we’re running a written module), but I always reflect player actions in the world. I’m more of a reactive force than a storyteller or writer—what happens is based on you. I do character voices! A slight variance of old british person. Combat is part of the game. I'm not perfect and player's skill and characters vary! It sometimes might be a breeze, and sometimes hard. I aim to make it challenging and fun, but the dice fall where they may. Skill checks aren’t everything. If you want to search for something, describe your actions, and I’ll tell you if you find anything. A high perception or investigation score won’t help if you don’t say what or how you’re looking. I have flexibility when it comes to the rules. If you’re looking for a more rules-heavy or competitive game, my style may not be the best fit. But if you love creative problem-solving and collaborative play, I’d love to see you at my table! Of course everyone enjoying the game is priority, if my players have fun i have fun, so I'm open to feedback! I love having new players in my games. So please sign up!
