About me

Hi, I have been running D&D Pathfinder hybrids with lots of Homebrew and a casual style for my kids for The Last 5 Years. This is your opportunity to jump into a new adventure via Play by Post. Play-by-post (PbP) role-playing games (RPGs) can be a good way to play because they offer a deeper experience than face-to-face games. PbP RPGs allow for: Deep characterization and storytelling. The ability to post as your character, using an image and character sheet. A slower, introspective feel. The ability to easily reference story information from previous posts. Preserving the story of your game. Writing like chapters in a novel. PbP RPGs are good for people who can't get a game locally or can't find a solid block of time to play online every week. PbP RPGs are similar to "normal" tabletop play. They usually use the same games, such as: D&D, CoC, Pathfinder. However, PbP RPGs move much slower than in-person games. It can take weeks to get through what you do in a single few hours of live play.

GM Style

Please note that Start Playing doesn't have a way to show the price for PBP since PBP is a Session-less way to play. however, I charge a monthly price of $20.00 which is described as one session on the main page. I only run one campaign at a time so my energy goes into one gaming group. I work a full-time job and run an affiliate web page on WordPress so PBP campaign activity will usually be greater during the evenings and weekends. I use Gamers Plane or MythWeavers as the platform for PBP. My adventures are very much Theater of The Mind and I am by no means a Rule Lawyer although I favor Pathfinder 2e which is known for both rules and a map grid. This means I play PF2e like 5e and we as a group just come up with creative ways to use our feats and abilities. Combat will be handled with theater of the mind and a set of skill challenges. In this way, the action system, initiative, and enemy actions will be homebrewed to allow for quicker combat. This is a Skills challenge-heavy format. For more info on Skill Challenges take a look at Mat Coville on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvOeqDpkBm8&t=327s If this is too casual then you might want to look for another group. I admit it may be jarring for a long-time player to come into a casual-style adventure. With that said, I hope to get to know each other and build long-term friendships through the adventures we explore!
